{I would love some feedback!}
"Prince Alexander Valois." Crystal answered before I could open my mouth. My parents went to the living room to talk amongst each other and my three friends and I crowded around the table.
"And you accepted?" Leo asked, sounding utterly shocked that I would do such a thing.
"By law, I didn't have a choice!" I exclaimed, outraged that he should accuse me of such a thing.
"That's horrible, Lilly. What are you going to do?" Juliet asked. I shook my head and twisted the ring on my finger.
"What can I do?" My voice came out much quiet that time. "After this, I guess I'll see you guys at the wedding, but...after that's over, who knows." The sadness was starting to take over.
"Well, look on the bright side. You'll live in a castle and have all the money in the world." Leo said, trying unsuccessfully to cheer me up.
"Yes, and I'll also be isolated and in a loveless marriage." At the moment that was all that really mattered.
"When's the wedding?" He asked.
"In two weeks, but they're coming to take me to the castle tomorrow." I answered, receiving pained looks from all around. We walked around town a while before sunset, which led us to the realization that everyone knew that I was to be their new princess. People moved out of our way as we walked and we were bumped to the front of every line we ended up in. I can't say I liked it.
By the time it was dark I was completely beyond talking about anything else. I couldn't think straight and my reasoning was all over the place. I was tired, but wasn't even considering sleeping.
For the moment no one was talking and my head was resting on my father's shoulder. I couldn't belief this was all going to be gone tomorrow. Nothing would ever be the same. I couldn't stay up through all hours of the night and sleep all day. I couldn't go out with my friends whenever I wanted. And more importantly, I won't see my parents every morning.
"I'm going to miss you guys." I stated to break the silence.
"I know." My father said softly and rubbed my side.
"I keep hoping this won't be as bad as it seems, but...I really don't see how it wouldn't be." I sighed and closed my eyes.
"You'll get through it somehow." Crystal assured me. "You always do." I suppose everything comes to pass and I'll get used to it. Perhaps my in-laws won't be monsters like Alexander and I will at least have someone to back me up on things. I love how that's the only bright side I have at this point.
