Jealousy is an Ugly Thing

During sewing class, Sofia and Hugo were sewing up their costumes for their competition. Adara was so jealous of Sofia that she wasn't doing her own work. When she thought Sofia wasn't looking, she went over to see Hugo.

"Prince Hugo, what a wonderful suit you have," Adara gushed.

The sudden sound of Adara's voice frightened both Sofia and Hugo, and Sofia pricked her finger with her needle.

"Ouch!" Sofia yelped. She sucked on her finger.

"Oh, Sofia, you should really be more careful with the needle," Adara taunted.

Hugo glared at Adara. He really wished Adara would stay away from him and Sofia. Hugo didn't understand why Adara was so mean, especially to Sofia.

That night, Hugo and his older brother, Axel, were in their bedroom, ready for bed. Garrick entered to see his sons. "Ready for bed, my boys?" he asked.

"Ready," Axel smiled. But he and Garrick could tell that Hugo was a little unhappy.

"Why so blue, baby bro?" Axel asked.

"Dad, have you noticed that Princess Adara is rude and obnoxious?" Hugo asked his father.

"Yes, she sure seemed very rude to Sofia during ice dancing class today, champ," Garrick agreed.

"Princess Adara?" Axel inquired.

"She's new to Royal Prep, and she is the rudest, most arrogant princess I've ever met," Hugo sniffed. "She brags all the time about things that never even happened, and she's not very nice to Sofia, mostly when I'm around."

"If Adara treats Sofia badly whenever you're around, then she's probably just a little jealous because you like Sofia more than her," Axel suggested.

"If that's true, then Sofia needs to watch her back," Hugo said. "We both dealt with people who were jealous of our friendship."

"Yeah, but they never ruined your friendship no matter how hard they tried," Garrick assured his youngest son. "I'm sure everything will be okay."

"Yeah, as long as Adara gets over her jealousy of Sofia before something bad happens," Hugo sighed sadly.

"Well, jealousy is an ugly thing, baby bro," Axel said. He and Garrick felt bad for Hugo, and they all felt very bad for Sofia. They were hoping Adara wouldn't do anything bad to her.
