The next day, Sofia and Hugo were ready for ice dancing class. They were putting on their skates when Adara came up to them.

"Oh, Prince Hugo, how wonderful it is to see you here," Adara gushed haughtily. Then she gave Sofia a haughty smile.

"Don't bother me, Adara," Hugo snapped. "I'm not in the mood. Sofia and I have to practice our routine for the competition." He took Sofia's hand and took her out on the ice.

Adara was really jealous of Sofia, and now she was getting the idea that Hugo was very uninterested in her.

"Can we do the twirl?" Sofia asked.

"Oh, I like that," Hugo smiled. He and Sofia started doing some backward crossovers, and they each jumped and twirled perfectly.

"Wonderful!" Garrick beamed.

Adara was so jealous that she wanted to do something really bad.

"Let's try it again," Hugo suggested.

Adara saw a nearby hockey puck and hatched a very nasty plan: she decided to throw the puck at Sofia to make her fall.

Just as Sofia and Hugo jumped and twirled, Adara threw the puck on the ice in Sofia's direction. Just as Sofia and Hugo landed, Sofia's foot touched the puck. "Whoa!" she yelped as she slipped. Then she fell down, and everyone—except Adara—was shocked.

"Sofia, are you okay?" Hugo asked, kneeling down to Sofia.

"Oh, it's my ankle," Sofia winced.

Everyone turned to Adara, who was cackling until she saw that everyone was glaring at her. "What?" she asked.

"You did this on purpose, Adara," Hugo glared. "That was mean and dangerous."

"I'm afraid Prince Hugo is right, Adara," Flora frowned. "We need to have a serious talk about this."

"I'll take care of Sofia," Garrick said.

"All right," Flora agreed.

Hugo cradled Sofia in his arms, and he and Garrick took her inside. Since Lady Melody, the school nurse, was out sick, Garrick and the staff agreed to take any sick or injured student to her office to see what was wrong.
