When they got back to the island, they offloaded all of the objects and carried them into the woods towards their homes. As they approached camp they heard laughing. They came into camp to see everybody gathered around the fire telling jokes and singing songs.

"Having fun without us I see?" Matt joked, dropping all of the things he had in his hands.

"No, we're just messing around," Ami said. "You kids didn't miss much. How was your trip to town?"

"It was great," Gabe answered, plopping down on the makeshift bench by the fire.

"We met some lovely ladies," Matt told his mother. Her eyes lit up at that statement.

"Well what are their names? Did you invite them out? Tell me all about them," she babbled on.

"We weren't there long enough for Matt and Gabe to think that far," Bam said to his mother.

"Bam, you didn't talk to them?"

"No, I was too busy doing what we came into town to do. Speaking of that, Da, we have a hauling job coming up next week. It'll probably be about a three day trip."

Billy stood up. "Why don't we go into the house and discuss it? We'll need to plan it," he said and then turned to James. "Would you like to come help plan it?"

"Sure thing, Billy," James replied and walked to the house with him and Bam.

"They'll be in there discussing that for the rest of the day," Megan laughed.

Ami joined the laughter. "You are never more right there," she agreed. "Do you remember when they used to do jobs back in the day?"

Ami and Megan started recalling memories of their younger days and everybody sat around listening. Matt hopped up twenty minutes later.

"Well I have some work to do. I'll be out back if you need me," he said and walked off.

Rory jumped up and followed after him.

"What're you working on?" she asked Matt when she caught up to him.

"I'm going to start on the root cellar. Nothing that interesting," he said.

"Can I help?"

He stopped and raised his eyebrows at her. "Can you keep up Princess?"

She huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. "What's that supposed to mean? Just because I'm a girl I can't do what you can?"

He chuckled. "You're definitely the same old Rory I used to know," he said, putting his hand on her hair and giving her a noogie.

She slapped his hands, making him laugh again.

"Let's go Princess. Let's see if you really can keep up," he said, leading her into the woods to gather up supplies.

They gathered up pieces of small trees, using the chainsaw to cut them up to the proper size. Matt began to dig a hole and Rory stepped in to help. They were going well for a couple of minutes until Rory lifted one pile of dirt and tossed it back, only to hit Matt in the face.

"Are you serious?" he asked, spitting and sputtering.

She put her hands over her mouth. "I'm so sorry Matt! I wasn't thinking!" she apologized.

"Why don't you just sit back and let me do the work?" he suggested.

"But I want to help!"

"Listen, no offense to you, but you're just kind of getting in my way. I can finish this thing by myself."

"Fine!" she huffed and stomped off. She could hear his laughter echoing behind her. Jerk. All she was doing was trying to help.

Gabe watched as Lorelei stomped past him, an angry expression on her face.

"Hey!" he called to her. She stopped but didn't turn around to look at him. "Hello?"

She whirled around and glared at him, making his eyes widen.

"Can I help you?" she questioned with a hint of sass.

"Ooo, Princess is back! I've missed her!" Gabe exclaimed, referring to her younger years. She glared harder, making him chuckle. "Seriously though, what's with that face?"

"Your brother!" she burst out.

"Which one?"

"Matt!"

"What did he do this time?"

"He's...a big meanie!"

Gabe didn't say anything for a while and then he burst into laughter. He was bent over at the waist, tears rushing down his face.

"A...big...MEANIE?" he let out between laughs. "AHAHAHA!"

"Shut up!" she yelled at him.

It took him a little while, but he finally calmed down enough to speak sentences.

"Why did you call him...a big meanie?" He laughed at the end.

"I was just trying to help him make the root cellar and he told me I was just getting in his way and to let him finish it by himself," she explained.

"That's just Matt," Gabe tried to tell her. "He likes to do things his way. That's why he and Bam can never work together because they are both like that. You should know that by now."

"Whatever. He's a jerk."

"Aww, come on, you can't be mad at him! You two are in love with one another!"

Her eyes grew big. "Eww! Why do you and Bam keep saying that?" she wondered. "There is nothing going on between Matt and I!"

"You say that, but..." he trailed off.

"Don't make me come over there and kick your butt," she threatened.

"Oh, you can try Princess, but do you see these muscles? I doubt you could kick my butt," he taunted.

"Do you wanna bet Gabey?" she asked, approaching him slowly.

"Bring it on."

She pounced towards him, fooling around. They both jokingly made jabs at one another until Gabe grabbed her around the waist. She struggled against him laughing and they both fell to the ground, Gabe collapsing on top of her. He held his weight off of her, laughing with her.

"Whoa, what's going on here?" Bear's voice came from down the path.

Gabe scurried off of Rory and helped her up. They both wiped themselves off.

"We were just wrestling," Gabe told his brother.

"That didn't look like wrestling to me," Bear said with a smirk on his face.

"We were messing around with one another and fell. That's all," Rory defended the two of them.

"Whatever the two of you say..." Bear said, running off full speed.

Gabe and Rory looked at one another.

"We both know what was really happening and that's all that matters," Gabe said to her.

"Yeah, but lord knows he's going to open his mouth and tell everybody about what he saw."

"So?"

She shrugged. "Anyways, I'm going to go see if there's anything else I can do around here."

He nodded and watched as she walked off.
