4th Chapter: "I'll be your pianist"
.

Previously :

"No one?"

Just when I was about to ask the teacher if I could perform alone, someone raises his hand.

"I volunteer to be her pianist"

The person turns their head to look at me, and my eyes meet those blue ones.

My heart was racing.

Why was it beating so fast? Stop it! Control your emotions!

But the truth is that I couldn't.

I found him. After all these years (11 to be more exact), I finally found him. The one who'll accompany me. I've finally found my pianist.

And there he was, sitting behind his desk. He's looking straight into my eyes and my god he's beautiful. Very handsome. And he's a pianist. He's my pianist.

"Good"

Says Mrs. Daddario. She then moves to her desk, where she put her bag, and opened it. The teacher took out of her bag, a piece of paper and a pen.

She starts writing down and talks to us at the same time:

"Vanessa Francis, the violinist, will be accompanied by her classmate and pianist: Brad Smith"

A tons of questions were racing in my head

Which piece of classical music should we perform?

From which composer? Bach? Mozart? Chopin? Vivaldi?

When will we practice?

Will a month be enough to make our performance unforgettable?

I couldn't focus during this whole history hour. I just couldn't. I was too busy day dreaming, imagining our performance. Together, Brad and I. He will be wearing an elegant dark blue suit and I'll be in a red gorgeous dress.

I want us to look like them. That man and woman I saw on TV when I was 4 years old.

I hope everything goes well...

...................................

"Wait Brad!"

I finally catch the boy I was running after, since our history class ended.

He turned around and smiled once he saw me.

"Hey partner"

He greets me, and for no apparent reason, that made my heart melt.

"Didn't you say that you no longer played the piano?"

That wasn't why I ran after him. I really just wanted to see him and hear his voice.

"Yeah I did. But no worries. I promise you that I can play. You can ask Pyper if you don't believe me!"

Pyper, Brad's sister, was awkwardly standing next to her brother. I've completely forgot about her and didn't even notice her in the first place.

"I believe you"

I reply without bothering to ask anything to Pyper, which pleased him.

"When do you want to practice? And where?"

I finally ask him the important questions.

Brad gestures for me to follow him. We start walking, with him in the middle, between his silent sister and I.

"You can come to our place whenever you want. Ask your parents if you can come tonight for example. I think we should at least see each other two times a week if not more."

I nod and continue walking.

That's until I remembered that I had to go take my violin from the secretary, since my next class, is that "special" and "extra" "subject". The woman behind her desk is very nice. Students often leave some of their instruments in her office, since they don't want to carry them around all day.

"Can we get to the secretary first please? I have to take something from there"

I nicely ask him. Brad shrug his shoulders.

"Of course, why not? Plus, the secretary is on my way"

Yes. I totally forgot he was heading to the cafeteria for his cooking class.

"Thanks"

A minute later we're in front of the secretary. I walk inside, then walk out of it with my violin case in my hands.

"Well I guess this is where we split and go to different directions?"

The blond boy says as he puts his hands in his pockets and looks at his shoes.

He was right. Brad was going to head to the left, where the cafeteria was, and as for Pyper and I, we'd continue forward, since the theater room was next to the music room.

"Sadly yes"

I let out a sight.

My eyes wouldn't leave his hair. I wanted to touch it. I wanted to play with it. It just looked so soft.

"Well then see you later Pypes"

Brad leans in and kisses his sister's cheek.

"Oh and remember to call your parents Vanessa! Ask them if you can come at our place just after school, so we can start practicing. You finish in two hours right? Right. I hope I see you later then"

And so, he goes left, and Pyper and I, walk forward, in complete silence.

"So, do you like acting ?"

I ask her in attempt to put an end to this dead and disturbing silence.

"Nah not really"

I frown and turn my head to look at her.

"What do you mean 'not really'?"

Pyper looked nervous but still tried her best to smirk. She then ran a hand in her blond platinum hair.

"That means I don't like acting that much"

"That can't be possible. It's supposed to be your talent"

The blond girl stops walking and I finally realize that we arrived in front of our "classrooms".

"It's not because you're talented at something that you necessarily like it."

She replies and locks eyes with me.

"So you're going to spend 6 hours, every week, doing something you don't like until the end of the school year?"

We practice our talents 6 hours per week. 2 hours per day, on Mondays, Thursday and Fridays.

"Exactly"

She pushes open the door to the dancing class, and gets inside without turning back, not once.
