(Sorry for making u wait for so long)Previously :
Sitting at the piano, hands on the keyboard, was none other than Pyper Smith, the famous pianist that disappeared from the classical music world, a few years ago.
13th Chapter : "Breaking"
I couldn't tear my eyes away from her figure. I just couldn't. No matter how hard I tried.
Her hands were trembling, a lot. Suddenly, she clenches her fists, and closes her eyes, taking a deep breath at the same time.
Our mayor, Lucas Fogelmanis, gets back on stage. He comes to stand beside me, and brings the microphone closer to his mouth, not before stealing a glance at the girl sitting at the piano bench.
No matter how hard he tried to hide it with his smile, you could clearly see he was as surprised, and somewhat excited by her appearance.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Vanessa Francis and..."
He turns around, to look at her one last time before introducing her.
He and I both knew there was no need to do so, because clearly and obviously, everyone in the theatre already knew who she was. Who wouldn't?
But our mayor still did it, because, I think he didn't quite believe that this was happening, and he needed to say her name to make sure he wasn't hallucinating.
"...please welcome, the talented Pyper America Smith"
Once again, chatter filled the room.
I watched as parents, students, and other important people leaned against each other, whispering in each other's ears, while eying the girl in the blue dress.
Pyper ignored them, and stayed focused on the music sheets she had in front of her.
I take a deep breath, place my violin on my collar, getting ready, and wait for her to start.
The blue-eyed girl lifts her head, locking eyes with me, for brief seconds. The visual contact didn't last much long, but it made my heart skip a beat, which I assumed, was because of my worry.
I was scared that I couldn't keep up with the great and talented Pyper Smith, and end up making a fool out of myself.
Then she started playing, and suddenly everyone in the room stopped talking, and moving, not wanting to miss a single note she was playing.
Everything seemed and sounded perfect during the first twenty seconds, but it unfortunately didn't stay that way for much long.
I frown as soon as my ear picks up a false note. Alarmed, my eyes scan the room, looking at the confused faces of the public, until my gaze landed on the twin brother.
He was sitting at the very edge of his seat, concern written all over his face.
Eventually, my time to shine came. It was time for the violin to add itself to the piano.
Closing my eyes, I raise my violin's bow and slowly rub it against my instrument's strings. Without meaning too, I grimace as I pick up another false note from Pyper's piano, and my eyes open, as they get more frequent.
What is happening?
Not only was my pianist playing the wrong notes, but she was accelerating the rhythm, as if she wanted to end the classical piece sooner, which only led to more mistakes coming from her.
