Maddie’s P.O.V.

Tonight was the night of Kendall and I’s monthly sleepover. It used to be a weekly sleepover but Kendall got more popular and didn’t have as much time for me. She usually has a date or a party or something. People just love Kendall. It’s okay but sometimes I wish I could be more like her. I heard the doorbell and raced downstairs.

“Hey Kendall!” I was going in to hug her but she gave me her stuff instead.

“That stuff is really heavy. You don’t mind carrying it right?” Kendall asked sweetly.

“Of course not.”

We went up to my room to put all of her stuff down, “Mads, you should really re-do your room. You haven’t changed since you were 12.”

“What’s wrong with it?”

“You’re almost 17. You need to change it up a bit.”

“Maybe…”

The truth is my family can’t afford to re-do my room. I’m already making it difficult with dance and I’m not going to make it worse by making my parents pay for me to change my room. I actually like my room. I don’t get why Kendall always has to insult it but I’m not going to change it any time soon.

Kendall and I had just finished watching Step Up. We both loved the original a lot more than the sequels. There’s just something about Channing Tatum that completes the movie. I almost forgot to tell Kendall about Shay and Liam being twins. “Hey, you know that new dancer, Shay?”

“Ugh, don’t remind me about her,” Kendall groaned.

“You don’t like her?” I asked.

“She’s too perfect. She gets the dance right on her first try. She’s so smiley and acts like she’s better than everyone. Also, she treats Abby like she’s the Queen of England or something. ‘Abby, do you need help with that?’, ‘Abby, I can help you with the junior team.’, ‘Abby, do you need some water?’ No one is that helpful and perky all the time,” she explained.

“I didn’t really get that from her. I thought she was really cool.”

“Maddie, you need to stop liking everyone. You get walked all over that way.”

“I won’t get walked all over because I give people a chance.”

“Oh really? How about Nick?”

“What about him?” I tense a bit.

“When were you planning on telling me you guys are back together?”

“We’re not back together.”

“I saw you guys the other day. You guys against the wall. ‘Omg Maddie, you’re just so great!’ ‘Aw, Nick I love you!’”

“We never said that.”

“You basically did.”

“You know I wouldn’t date him again.” Why won’t she stop? She knows how much Nick hurt me. She knows I hoped I’d never see him again. She knows we didn’t say that stuff. She knows that I don’t want to talk about it either.

“Maddie, we both know you were waiting for the day he’d come back. The day where you guys could be ALDC’s ‘it’ couple again.”

“No. Can we please stop talking about this?”

“Fine.”

So much for telling her Shay and Liam are twins. She’ll notice it sooner or later. How did it even get to Nick? We never talk about Nick. Maybe if I tell her about my date with Liam she’ll drop it.

“You know that guy Liam from school?”

“Yes!” Kendall seemed a bit too happy.

“Well, I was talking to him the other day and-“

“Did he admit to liking me?” She cut me off.

“What? No. He asked me-“

“What’s he waiting for? It’s so obvious he likes me.” Kendall cut me off again.

“Uh, Kendall, he doesn’t like you.”

If looks could kill, the look Kendall was giving would have been fatal, “What do you mean he doesn’t like me? Everyone likes me. Do you know how many guys have asked me out? Too many to count.”

“Ken, I wasn’t trying to hurt your feelings. I just know he doesn’t like you,” I said softly.

“Does he like someone else?” She whispered.

“Yeah.”

That fatal look came back on, “When I find out who he likes, I’m going to rip her to shreds.”

Kendall was starting to scare me. I knew I couldn’t tell her that Liam likes me. That wouldn’t turn out well. I just have to figure out a way to get her to not kill me. “It’s not the girl’s fault that he likes her.”

“Well, she’s taking his attention away from me. If he never met her, I guarantee he would like me.”

“How about we watch another movie?”

“Fine, but I swear Maddie, if-,” she cleared her throat, “I mean when I find out who this girl is, I’m going to ruin her. Just like I ruined Chloe.”

That sent a shiver down my spine. It’s been awhile since Chloe dated that guy and they didn’t last. Kendall still hates her for it. If I had told her, that I was the girl ruining her chance with Liam, I woldn’t have a bestfriend anymore. I know she isn’t always the greatest bestfriend but when it comes down to it, she’s still my bestfriend. I need her. There was clearly no way for me to get Kendall to approve of me going out with Liam yet. Maybe if Liam and I’s relationship gets more serious then I will tell her. I mean she can’t still be mad when her bestfriend is happy, right?
