"Don't get your hopes up. Things don't always go as planned"

  ◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

Normal point of view:

For some time, Natsu has attempted to avoid Gray at all cost from that day he let Gray see him in a weakened state. He hasn't let anyone see him like that for God knows how long and when this person was Gray Fullbuster, for pete's sake it really shook him up.

Natsu sat at one of the tables that scattered around the school library. He leaned back reading one of the many books that he had been procrastinating to read. Occasionally the librarian told tables near his to quiet down from their rowdiness. He glanced at the filled tables in envy. It wasn't like he didn't have friends. The case was that he didn't know if he would consider the people who tried to be near him, friends, seeing as he hadn't communicated with them in years.

He always felt that when he was around them he was screaming and no one was listening. Or maybe they did but didn't do anything about it. But he knew himself that it was his own fault for pushing them away.

Take Sting, for example, he hasn't spoken to him for several weeks.

Yet, all of it was contradicting. He wanted to be left alone and endure the silence. Despite that he hated it. That was what drove him insane.

Natsu sighed and continued to read his book until he heard footsteps coming towards him. Not paying any mind to the presence parallel to him he kept reading. The presence started tapping their fingers on the hard surface testing the one across' patience. Natsu harshly pressed his book down on the table and glared at the other.

"I'm trying to read and that noise is irritating."

"At least, I got your attention as a result." The raven uttered.

Natsu picked up the book again and Gray took it from his grasp.

"Hear me out will you?"

The pink haired teen looked in Gray's direction giving him the attention he needed, only because he wanted his book back and let the situation pass by quickly.

"Are you going anywhere for winter break?"

"Who knows." Natsu then took his book back from Gray and proceeded to read again. Gray fiddled with his tie and sighed.

"Seriously Natsu,"

"Are you heading back to Crocus?"

"Visiting Igneel's?"

"Don't mention that name.." Natsu voiced lowly as he gripped the paperback.

Touchy subject.

"Then..?" Gray insisted carefully.

"Why must it matter to you what I'm doing outside of school?"

"I just wanted to know."

Gray wanted to ask his friend to meet him sometime during the break at least once. He had a feeling it was going to be hard just not this hard. He got up from his seat to leave and to his surprise his crush told him he didn't have to go.

He sat there catching a glimpse of Natsu every few seconds.

"I'm heading back to Crocus for Christmas with my siblings I guess," Natsu informed.

"Oh." The raven said not knowing what else to say. He wanted to continue the conversation since it was rare, ever since he's seen Natsu so far he never gave him decent answers; to practically anything.
