As a small child I didn't have family, I did have a home though. That was my set goal...to get back home. I was trapped on a supposed planet called Asgard and I had amnesia, I couldn't remember anything from my past but I remembered home. Asgard was strangely similar to my planet except there was more plant life on mine. I was trying to find a way to get back home and I had heard of a library that was full of answers to everything...and when I say everything, I mean everything. Unfortunately it was in the palace that was why it was named Odin's library, because he owned it. Peasants weren't allowed in the palace because we weren't 'high of class'. But being the sneaky and athletic seven year old I was, I got into the library. I browsed through the long rows filled with shelves upon shelves of books. I guess I would have favoured reading if I owned more books but being broke, I couldn't buy any. I found the book I was looking for and browsed through it, looking for the answer to my so desperately asked question. Only to have my deep thoughts interrupted by the shouts of guards. "I saw her go in through the window, my lord!" a guard's voice reverberated through the room. My lord. Odin. Fudge, I was gonna have to get out of here and fast. I thought to myself and I saw the window I came in through still open.

I dropped from the window effortlessly and walked down the bridge leading back down to the village but a child's voice stopped me in my tracks. "What are you doing?" I turned around on my heels to find a boy my age with raven shoulder-length hair staring intently at me with his green eyes. "Running away." I answered his question plainly. "With one of my father's books?" He raised one of his eyebrows inquisitively. "Why yes." I brought the book up into my view as if I forgot it was there. "Father? Are you one of the prince's?" I asked him. He nodded "You live here, you should know who I am." He said like a spoilt brat. "Well, for the record I am not from here. That is why I stole the book. I'm trying to get home." I attempted to walk away from the spoilt prince when he grabbed my wrist with a surprisingly strong hand. "Let go of me, I'll punch you and it will hurt." I assured him. "What is your name girl?" He demanded "My name is Mairi." I answered his plain question...you guessed it! Plainly. "Why are you disguised like that?" My blood ran cold at this question. "How do you know I am in disguise?" I asked him with a menacing tone. "I am the god of mischief, if anyone is to be an expert at disguises it's me. Also the ancient bangle you are wearing is keeping you in an asgardian form." He snatched my bangle from the wrist he was holding to see me transform into my true form.

"I hate you." I said in a tired tone. "You look...interesting." He chose his words carefully as he spotted my claw like nails. He may be a god but that won't protect him. I was an inch taller than him without my ears...yes, I said ears. I had ears like a cat on the top of my head popping out of my black hair with a blue streak going down my fringe. The colour of the streak matched my lion-like fur. My tail peeked out from underneath my dress and my hair burst out of my scalp like a lion's mane. Truth is...I'm an alien called a Critterian. "What are you?" he said with an amused tone, he was enjoying this? I will soon make it unbearable for him, prince or no. I told him what I was. "What can you do?" he must have known, being the god of 'disguises'. "I can change into midgardian animals. But I haven't learnt how to do it yet." I answered him, tired of his endless questions. The shouts of the guards became louder and louder. "I have to go! Please let go of me." He still had his hand wrapped firmly around my wrist after he ripped the bangle from me. "Will I see you again?" he asked me with alarm riddled through his emerald eyes. I gave up, "I'll come back here tomorrow morning, you better be here or I will leave as soon as I came." I hissed at him letting my small fangs show. He noticed but he wasn't afraid. "Promise?" he asked me as he loosened his grip slightly. "I promise." I meant it too. He let go and I raced off with the bangle and the book in hand.

~The Next Day~

I snook over the palace wall once again, making sure nobody spotted me this time. I had the bangle round my wrist once again, it rubbed against my skin as I replayed the events of yesterday in my mind. "Hello again." He dropped from a tree, a book in hand. His emerald robes matched his eyes, I didn't want to point it out to him. "I still don't know your name." I told him. "My name is Loki." He answered my question like it was something he was asked a lot. "Well Loki. What do you do for fun?" I asked him.

In the next thirty minutes after that conversation Loki had planted some 'stink bombs' in his Brother Thor's room. We couldn't hold in our snickers as the blonde prince strode into his chambers. We heard a loud yell as a bang went off in the room and green smoke started to snake outwards from underneath the door. "Oh my gods..." I held my sides as I giggled endlessly. "LOKI!!!" Thor shouted from the hallway, his hair was covered in green slime. The sight made me hold back a smirk, "Yes dear brother?" Loki said calmly as he stepped out of our hiding place. Thor charged towards him, but the young god of mischief just simply teleported us back into the courtyard before we suffered Thor's wrath. "I'm indeed sorry if you do get in trouble with your brother and possibly...your father." I held back a smile as an image of Thor's slime soaked hair filled my mind again. "It'll be worth it because that is the most fun I have had with anyone in my life!" Loki turned towards me and I spotted the excitement in the young boy's eyes. But realisation hit me as I remembered that I was leaving Asgard that night after discovering the coordinates of my home planet in the book. Loki noticed my sudden sadness. "Mairi, what is the matter?" He looked into my eyes, his eyes were so...unique it made me wonder, if my trip back to my home might be worth it. If I might see a family I can't remember again, I will indeed play pranks on my own siblings. "I'm leaving Asgard...tonight." I added sadly. "Tonight?" Loki asked, obviously shocked. I looked up at the sky as it started to darken, "I have to find my family and my species, or it might just kill me." I said forlornly, hugging myself from the cold. I really needed to do this. "Will you come back?" he asked me, still holding on to hope. "Eventually, I might come back in a couple years...depends how long it takes to look." I told him. "Oh...will you learn how to control your powers there?" he asked me, always with the endless questions. "Yeah, Loki I will, and when I come back I'll show you them." I told him. "Promise?" he asked "Promise." I confirmed.

That night I fled from Asgard, a brief farewell was shared with Loki before I ran towards the Gatekeeper. This was when I realised that Loki was my only true friend, even if I had only known him for two days. I turned towards him to see that he was watching me intently. I barrelled towards him and tackled him with a hug, he was surprised when I did this but he accepted my act of gratitude by hugging me back. "Thank you Loki, for giving me this friendship." I whispered in his ear. I knew he was smiling while I said this "Will you leave the bangle with me?" he asked "Why not?" I then took the bangle off and handed him the gold piece of jewellery, my eyesight became sharper as I changed into my natural form and I could see every detail of the room more clearly. "Goodbye Loki." I gave him a faint wave as I retreated back to the Gate keeper and showed him the coordinates in the book. He didn't seem surprised by my unusual form but it must have been because I was friends with the prince that he decided to let me travel. A beam of light came down from the stars and held me for a minute, I turned towards Loki and saw him forcibly smiling at me. I smiled back and then I was gone.
