BTW! Just to make sure people know Paige and Justin are not related. Just wanted to clear that up.

I looked at Paige like she was crazy. "You're kidding right?"

"No I'm dead serious. I've been planning this for months now." the look on her face said it all. She was serious.

I sighed," Okay so how are we doing this?"

Paige looked around in the dark room full of sleeping kids. "Not hear. Let's talk in the bathroom."

We quietly tip toed across the room into the hall. The bathroom was right next door so it was easy to get there unnoticed. I closed the door behind me. Paige flipped the light switch. The sudden bright light caught me off guard but my eyes quickly adjusted. I could see Paige a lot better too. I was surprised I didn't notice what she was wearing before. She had on a huge blue T-shirt that stop on her lower thigh. It didn't seem like she was wearing anything under it. And the color made her eyes extra blue.

Paige must of realized that I was checking her out because she snapped her finger in my face. " Justin, what are you doing?"

"Nothing", I muffled feeling the heat rise to my cheeks.

Paige ignored it and kept on talking." Anyway, this is what I'm thinking. We go out the back door and run for it."

"That makes no sense. Martha,(our foster mother) has camera recoding back there."

"Actually no, there are cameras but Martha is to lazy to change the tapes every month." she said.

I wasn't giving in this easy. "Okay, but what about Martha?. She sleeps right down stairs."

"You must of forgotten that this is the weekend. You know how she sneaks out to clubs thinking we are all asleep." she gave me a know-it-all smile.

Wow. I couldn't argue. It was perfectly planned. An easy escaped." Fine Paige, I give in! But we should hurry up."

"Thank you Justin!!!" she almost yelled. Then she leaped into my arms for a big bear hug. I hugged her back. I loved the warmth of her body; it made me feel safe.

Paige gave me a cheesy grin." Okay, meet me downstairs in 10 mins. Make sure you pack everything. From there we just walk out the door." she started to head for the door but suddenly turned around. "Oh, and be extra quiet. If any of those snitchers wake up we are done for sure." she added with a serious face.With that she turned around and headed to her room

When I got back to my room all the boys were knocked out. I tried not to make any sound and cringed at every squeak of the floor board. I grabbed my backpack from under my bed and started stuffing. I also changed into some pants and a shirt. Luckily I didn't have much so I was pretty fast. It was time to meet Paige down stairs.

When I reached the bottom of the stairs it was very dark. The only light shining through was coming from the full moon out in the night sky. I squinted looking for Paige.

"Paige?" I whisper yelled. "Paige you there?"

I moved closer to where I knew the kitchen was. Paige was right on one thing though. Martha was nowhere in sight. I passed the refrigerator and the sink. It wasn't to smart going into the kitchen because it was just getting darker. And soon enough I couldn't make out objects anymore. I stood there for a sec.

"Boo" I nearly jumping 20 feet. It scared the living shit out of me.

"Hahaha. Omg Justin. That was priceless" I knew that voice anywhere. Paige.

I started to calm down as my heart rate slowed.

"What the hell.You trying to kill me?" I manage to get out.

"No. But it was really funny." I couldn't see her face but I could tell she was grinning.

"Whatever." I mumbled

"You ready?"

"Yup."

Paige grabbed my hand and dragged me through the house to the back door. I heard her unlock it. She swung open the door. I was pulled right out the door. Two seconds later I felt the cold frosty air hit my face. I shivered a little.

"Come on ! Keep running. We can't stop until we are a block away." I nodded in agreement.

We started running full speed. I noticed after a while that I started running ahead of Paige. So I slowed down to her pace. Houses were nonstop passing us. Then finally reaching the end of the block and stopped.

"Justin, that was longer than I thought." Paige said breathlessly.

"I know right. Let's just rest here for a few minutes." I said.

"Okay"

Soon enough our breathing became normal again.

"I can't believe it actually worked. We are finally free Justin!"

I smiled. " So what do we do now? We have no money. Not even anywhere to stay."

By now we were sitting on the cold concrete side by side.

"Actually we do have money." she reached into her backpack and pulled out a pencil box. She handed it to me.

"Whats this?"

"Just open it."

When I lifted to lid my eyes widen. It was filled with money. Lots of money. Over flowing with money.

"How much is this?" I asked shocked.

"$1,574 to be exact." she beamed.

I was still shocked. "Did you rob a bank or something."

"Of course not! I have been saving for years! Bets, poker games, allowance and remember that job I got on that ice cream truck two summers ago?"

All I could thing was 'wow'.

"Okay so we have money covered for now but where are we gonna stay." I asked.

"At the library tonight. It's always open 24/7."

"You are amazing." I looked her in her eyes.

"I am?" Paige's blue eyes where bulging.

"Yes, you are. I wish everyone could have a best friend like you."

We continued to look at each other. Out faces were just inches apart. Then slowly she started leaning in a little. It seemed like she changed her mind about going for my lips. She gently kissed me on my cheek.

"What was that for?" My cheeks were on fire.

"That was for coming with me. I don't know what I would do without you."
