Part 4

Kimberley's point of view

I secretly watched Cheryl for the corner of my eye. She had been staring at me a lot lately, so even if she caught me, she wouldn't be able to say anything about it. I was listening to my music as I was looking at her. That way, there was no chance of her talking to me. In my eyes, the less we talked the better. It was clear she didn't want to be my friend, and I had given up trying to be hers a long time ago.

I could tell that she was stressed about something, her body was all tense and she had her eyes scrunched up, like she was thinking about something in deep thought. Sometimes, I wished that I could hear what Cheryl was thinking, that way I would be able to find out why she hated me.

“Right, come on you two! Get back up for rehearsals!” Beth's voice boomed as she walked back into the studio with Nadine and Sarah trailing behind her. “Where's Nicola?”

“She went to get something to eat.” I replied as I took my headphones out and placed my iPod back into my bag.

“Well, we're just going to have to start rehearsing without her!” Beth sighed in frustration.

“We should just wait until she gets back,” Cheryl called over from the other side of the room. “there's no point rehearsing without her. She'll be back in a few minutes anyway!”

“That's actually a good idea.” I admitted, surprising myself that I was actually agreeing with Cheryl for once. “We should just wait a few minutes longer.”

“No, do you know what? I've changed me mind.” Cheryl shouted when she heard me agreeing with her. “Come on everybody, get up we need to rehears!”

I rolled my eyes and pulled myself up from the ground. I hated it when Cheryl was like this, she always got what she wanted. It wasn't fair.

“Right girls, that's enough for today!” Beth's voice boomed a few hours later. Everyone let out a sigh of relief and sat down on the wooden floor, taking off their shoes.

“I've got to go,” Sarah said as she rushed to collect her things. “I've got a date later. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow!” She ran out of the studio before anyone could ask any questions about it.

“So, what's everyone doing tonight?” Nicola asked as she started to tidy away her stuff.

“Nothing much,” I answered. “just staying in I think.”

“Same here,” Cheryl joined in, agreeing with me for once. “there's nothing to do so I'll just be staying at home.”

“Why don't we all go out?” Nadine suggested. “Or at least go to one of our houses and have a drink?”

“That's a good idea!” Nicola agreed. “Are you two up for it?” She turned towards Cheryl and I, waiting for an answer, but before either one of us could speak, Hillary interrupted.

“Cheryl and Kimberley will not be joining you two tonight, I need them to do something for me instead.”

“What are you going on about Hillary?” Cheryl demanded. “You said nothing about this before!”

Nadine and Nicola realised that the situation was getting tense, so they quickly grabbed their bags and made an exit for the door, following Beth who was also just leaving.

“What is it you need us to do?” I asked, turning my attention towards Hillary.

“Nothing,” she replied truthfully. “I just want the two of you to do something together. You know, so you can bond.”
