Chapter Three- Whitney The Thief
I walked down the deserted road with an air of caution. These days you had to make sure you watched your back because there are always people out there to harm someone. Not to mention cannibals tend to roam the small alleyways that most people liked to take as short cuts.
I stuck to the main roads where you could run into someone every so often. Normally it was rare but no one tries to jump you in the middle of the street because there is always the possibilty of someone walking by. Lucky for me, if anyone got stupid and decided not to care about me being on the main street I was close enough to my destination for them to hear me.
In fact I was so close that I was about spitting distance to the run down door. I was coming to meet someone by the name of Whitney who lives in a crumbling building that used to be one of the biggest hotels in the city. Whitney is a very smart person and has wired up the entire place to let her know of any unwelcome guests. When we were younger i could remember she would sit in her room and come up with the strangest things. They were always so high-tech and futuristic that I was so amazed by everything she created. She never showed her parents what she could do though because she was afraid they would send her off to some special school for kids who were 'gifted' like her.
Actually since Whitney was so smart she was the one who helped me create most of the cloning device, which is one of the main reasons I was walking into her building. Since I had been there so many times I knew which ways not to turn and what wires not to trip. It took all of twenty minutes to get through the main part of the building whereas the next part usually took around ten minutes. Finally though I got to my destination and knocked on the door like it was any normal meeting place.
I heard a few crashes as someone's feet ran over to the door. It was hard not to smile so wide at Whitney's clumsiness and how she had no regard for things in her way. To be honest I would say that she actually liked tripping over things.
As I was laughing over those things in my head, the door opened with a flourish and a frazzled-looking Whitney appeared in the doorway. Her blonde hair stood on end and her blue eyes looked a bit crazed as if she'd stayed up all night doing who knows what.
"Well come on in Delphine. Why the heck are you standing at the door like your some lost dog? You know you can just walk into my room as you please." I stepped across the threshold and gave Whitney a skeptical look.
"Oh yeah and set off the other traps you have going on in here. I don't think I'm up for that quite frankly." Whitney rolled her eyes as she made her way to the living room couch, motioning for me to follow her.
The room was cluttered with old technology that must be some kind of fire hazard. Literally you couldn't see the floor and every three steps you had to step over something no matter how small. The only thing in the room not totally covered in the technology was in fact the couch which Whitney took to sitting on like it was a prized lounger when it really had holes everywhere and rips at every seam.
I sat down next to Whitney and waited for her to say something to me. "So what is it you're here for this time Delphine?"
"Well I've noticed a problem with Clone 3. His personality has a sort of hate towards us humans and I'm not sure whether or not it's part of Clone 3's personality. What I really want to do right now is make another clone before everyone starts getting one, just to make sure everything is okay. The problem though is that I can't just take the cloning device from the lab and I also don't have permission to clone myself for more testing."
Whitney's eyes seemed to widen as I mentioned I wanted to clone myself. She sat up straight in her seat and looked me in the eyes. It was almost like she was searching for something to tell her that I was lying.
Finally she seemed satisfied with what she saw in me and leaned back against the couch with a huge smirk on her face. "So I'm guessing you want to use the spare we made."
The smirk transferred to my face and I nodded my head. We were smart enough to create another cloning device in case of an event like this. Right now I was saying thank you so much for remembering to do that however we were still missing a few things that would be vital to the operation at hand.
"I'm going to need you to steal some things from the lab for me though Whitney."
"That's my specialty isn't it?" Did I mention Whitney used to be a criminal?

Dear Diary,
I have gained the help of my good friend Whitney who will help me get the supplies I need to begin my operation. Since we created a spare cloning device in the event that something would go wrong, we should be able to do the operation without a problem. The only thing I'm truly worried about right now though is the way Clone 3 is acting. When I went to see him and Adam in the morning he was lashing out at Gene. I later found out that she had spilled something on his shoes and happened to start calling her a 'filthy human'. He was about to strike her when i walked into the room and that's when the oddest thing happened. He acted as if nothing was wrong and he hadn't done anything to scare Gene.
I'm not really sure what's going on but I really can only hope that it's only apart of Clone 3's personality that makes him so rude to us humans.
Anyway Whitney and I will began our preperations for the operation tomorrow in hopes that we will be ready by August 16th. If we do end up finding anything Whitney is ready to shoot video so that we will be able to give evidence to The Boss that something isn't right.
With Hope,
Delphine

Since Whitney and I had stayed to speak with one another for so long she decided that I should just stay over because it wouldn't be safe to go out alone in the night. So that's how I found myself on her couch with her snooring loudly from the bedroom.
I hadn't been able to sleep the whole night since I was so anxious for what Whitney and I were doing. I'd tried everything to get back to sleep but nothing was working.
After awhile I stuck to just staring at the ceiling and that's when I heard a small disturbance outside the door. My head snapped up at the noise, causing my heart to beat a million miles a minute. I looked in the direction of Whitney's to room to see that she was still sound asleep. So I grab the biggest piece of technology I could find and walked slowly to the door. Whoever this was must have been smart because it took me months to figure out all the traps Whiney had set up.
When I got to the door I pulled it open to reveal that no one was there except for a small note on the ground. With tentative fingers I picked it up and read what was on the paper.
Delphine,
We know what you're up to and you're going to fail. All of you humans are going to die miserably anyway.
Sincerely,
The Clones
