Chapter One
Sadie POV
*tap*tap*tap*
Ugh. Whatever that is, can you please stop?!
Wait! It stopped! Thank you!
I slowly start to drift back asleep again, until I feel the same tapping on my shoulder again.
"WHAT!" I yell. I open my eyes to see my older brother laughing at me.
"Brandon! Was that really neccessary? I'm trying to sleep here." Now I'm mad. I was just trying to get some sleep. We have been in the car for two days and sitting in the back seat, cramped up is not what I call fun.
"I'm sorry sis, but it was too funny to pass up. You shouldv'e seen your face." Brandon says in between laughs.
I galre at him and he slowly stops laughing.
"Ma said I have to wake you up 'cause we are here." He explains.
"So you had to go and tap me in my sleep!" I yell while stepping out of the car.
Brandon comes out from his side of the car and stands next to me.
Looking out at Lake Superior finally feels like I'm home. My family and I haven't been here in over four years. The first year we couldn't make it because Dad had an important job interview he couldn't pass up. And yes he got the job. But that's the reason we couldn't come to the Lake.
Now it's four years later and we finally found time to come to the Lake. I can't wait to see everyone, it's been so long; too long.
Every year, when I was younger, a whole bunch of my parents friends would bring their family to Lake Superior. We owned five houses, or cabins and we would stay in them. We would have bonfires every night, and go in paddel bording, cliff diving, swimming, and running everyday. All the family's would get together and have so much fun.
But since my Dad said we couldn't go in Summer 2010, he still lent our cabins to our friends. They have been coming every summer. I haven't been here in four years, I wonder what everybody looks like, what if they are totally different people?
I need to stop worrying so much.
"C'mon. I think Mom and Dad are waiting for us inside." Brandon speaks up.
I take one more look at the Lake. There are a bunch of kids playing around and splashing each other in the water. I smile and then turn around and walk up to the cabin.
"Oh, Sadie. I'm just talking with Samantha. You remember Samantha, right?" Mom asks. I nod my head, becoming shy all of the sudden.
"Hi Sadie. It's been to, to long. We've all missed you here." Samantha takes me into a huge hug.
"I've missed everyone too. It's good to be back. I have missed this place for so long. I can't wait to see everyone." I say.
"Well everyone can't wait to see you too, especially Justin. He's been talking about you all the time since we said you were coming to the Lake this summer." I start to blush when she says Justin's name.
Justin Simon, Samantha and Jackson's son. My Mom knows the Simones from college. Her and Samantha have been best friends since. When I was younger Justin and I would play all the time at the Lake. As I got older, I started to develop a crush. That crush turned into something else.
My last summer here was when I realized I was in love with Justin Simon.
But as I said before, I haven't seen him in four years.
I wonder what he looks like now. Does he still play football? Has he grown taller? Does he still have the same dark brown hair? I guess all my questions will be answered soon.
"Honey, why don't you go up to your room and unpack? Go get ready for the bonfire." Mom urges.
I nod and head back out to the car to retrive my belongings. The sun is setting, when I step outside. I breathe in the fresh woodsy air and grab my bags from the trunk.
Brandon comes out to help me with my bags because I brought a lot with me. I'm a girl, what do you suppose?
I turn the door handle and step over the thresh hold. My room is just how I left it. The walls are painted a very light blue. Their are pictures scadered everywhere on the walls of all the times at the Lake. My queen sized bed has a huge blue comforter with big white and blue pillows.
Brandon sets my bags down. He flicks on the light and leaves. I put up christmas lights a long time ago and they are all arround the room. I set down my bags on my bed and walk over to my balconie.
I open the two french doors and look out at the beautiful view of Lake Superior. The sun is now all the way down and the moon is up. Lights are set up all around our camp sight and I see the bonfire starting.
Ten minutes later I'm dressed in my favorite pair of skinny jeans, a pink v-neck shirt, and a big jacket that says 'We are Superior' and a picture of th Lake. My make-up is done the usual: eyeliner, eye shadow, and mascara. Looking in the mirror, I remember where I got the jacket from, Justin.
He gave it to me before I left the last time I was here. He said he wanted me to remember him by giving me his favorite jacket. At first it was huge on me, but i guess over the years it shrunk and I got taller. So now it fits!
We don't wear shoes that often because we are in the water or playing in the sand. The only time I wear shoes is if we are leaving the cabin.
Feeling satisfied with myself, I head downstaires. I find that there is no one in the cabin, so I go outside. I feel the sand in my feet and the wind in my hair, the perfect moment.
But that moment was ruined when I am pushed down to the ground by something, or should I say someone.
"Bo! Oh my gosh, I've missed you so much!" I squeel once I'm safely off the ground and standing again to face my best girl friend at the Lake.
"Sade! OhmyfreakinggoshhaveImissedyousomuch!" Bo says while she crushes me into a bone crushing hug.
I hug her back with the biggest smile ever. Bo is my best friend other than Justin. She is my best girl-friend at the Lake. We have kept in touch since I last saw her, I was even texting her when we were on the way here.
She finally lets go and holds my shoulder, looking me directly in the eye. "You haven't changed a bit Johnson."
When we were young, Bo would start calling me by my last name or by Sade. Ever since then we would call each other by our lasts names.
"Well you haven't changed either Riley, especially with that bone crushing hug." I say back.
"You know you wanted one of my famous Riley hugs, so don't even deni it!" She laughs. We both start to laugh and hug once again.
I have definitly missed her.
"C'mon. I think the bonfire is starting and you still have to say hi to everyone!" Bo pulls me towards the very large group of people sitting by the fire.
I suddenly started to get nervous. I haven't seen anybody for over four years. Will they all be the same? Will they accept me? Stop worrying!, I thought.
Well, here goes nothing.
