Chapter Four

Sadie POV

"So are you and Justin together now, or what?" Bo asks. I roll my eyes and take a deep breath.

After the kiss at the cliff, we hung out with everyone and didn't talk about the kiss. Although the whole time Justin was staring at me, and the only way I would know that is because I was staring at him too. I guess Bo caught onto our staring competition. Now she has been non-stop been asking me questions about what happened between the two of us at the cliff.

"I'm really not sure. I mean, all we did was kiss; nothing more and nothing less." I simply say.

"Oh come on! I know you like him like that! I can see it in your eyes. And by the looks of it, Justin looks at you the same way." She replies. Bo flips herself from on her stomach to her back. I turn onto my back too, and now we're both just staring at the ceiling.

"He does not look at me that way." I cover my face with my hands and take another deep breath.

"Okay, let's make a bet. Since you don't believe me. Today is the Fourth of July and everyone is going to be shooting fireworks and kissing. If Justin doesn't kiss you by midnight, then I believe you and he doesn't like you. But if he does kiss you before midnight then....." Bo trails off.

"I got it! You have to do whatever I say for a whole twenty-four hours." Bo sits up from lying down and smirks at me.

I sit up and sit cross my legs. "You got a deal." I reply.

We both shake hands. I have to figure out a way to get Justin to kiss me. But how?

--------------

I decided on a pair of high-waisted shorts that I painted the American Flag over. I'm also wearing a gray shirt that says MTV on it. I did my hair half up-half down. I finished it off with eyeliner, mascara, and red lipstick to match. I had my bathing suit on under because I know we are going to go in the Lake tonight.

I met Bo and Lindsey outside getting food. I grabbed a plate and joined them.

"So I heard about this little bet you and Bo have." Lindsey says.

I blush and look down at my food. Lindsey is Justin's younger sister, so it's a little awkward talking about a bet I made with Bo to kiss her older brother.

"Um. Yeah. I just have to wait for the right timing to snatch him up so I can win the bet." Even though she is his little sister, I don't care if she finds out if I'm in love with her older brother.

"Well if I were you, I'd go find him now and kiss his face." She said with a smirk. We all started to laugh.

"Actually, he has to kiss her. And she isn't allowed to say anything that would force him into kissing her." Bo corrects.

"So he has to kiss her first?" Bo nods to Lindsey's question.

We all finished eating. We ended up making smores' at the fire even though its not dark outside yet.

"Who wants to play a game with the water balloons?" Mary, one of the teenagers, asks the crowd of people.

People start to cheer around. "Okay then. Everyone who's playing, grab a partner. One of you come and get a balloon. And then stand in front of your partner." Mary instructs.

I look around for someone to be my partner. Lindsey is with Bo. Brandon is with some girl. Erik is with Mary. I wonder where Justin is.

I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around to face Justin.

"Want to be partners?" He asks.

"Yeah. Let's kick some ass!" I say.

We passed a bunch of levels. Now it was down to us and; Erik and Mary. Justin threw the water balloon that we ended up naming Bob. I caught it swiftly in my hands.

I held it up in the air, showing off that I caught Bob. We watched as Mary threw their water balloon. Just as Erik caught it, it splashed right in his hands. He got soaked.

I threw my hands in the air and screamed in victory. Justin picked me up and twirled me around. We both screamed our heads off.

Once we finished screaming, Erik and Mary walked over to us to shake our hands.

"Good game guys." Erik said with a smirk.

"Good game." I replied.

Now it's almost midnight. I'm sitting by the fire eating my smore. Just as I'm about to grab another marshmallow, someone takes my hand and pulls my towards the water; making me drop my stick.

Once I'm standing in the water, knee deep; I look up to see Justin staring at me.

"Okay, I really want to say something I've wanted to say for a long time." He takes a deep breath. "So here it goes. Sadie, I've known you practically my entire life. And when you said you weren't coming back to the Lake four years ago, my heart broke. I felt horrible. Every year I came back to the Lake, it reminded me of you. The way you loved to swim on your back in the water and just forget reality. The way you took your time taking a million pictures of everything in sight. The way you smiled and laughed and just lived life the way it's supposed to be lived. I broke every second you weren't here. But this summer when you came back, I felt my heart gather all those broken pieces and be complete again. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I love you. I've always loved you. And not in the friend type of way. I want you to be mine forever. I love you, Sadie."

I feel a tear slip down my face, it's not a sad tear; it's a very happy tear. Justin picked up his finger and wiped away all the tears, but they still kept coming.

"I-I love you, too, Justin. I've loved you ever since you handed me that flower my first day here at the Lake. I love you so much." I vent out.

I smile as the happy tears slide down my face. Justin leans in and kisses all the tears away. His lips feel like electricity on my cheeks. Just when I think he is going to step away, his lips meet mine. He kisses me passionately and sweetly.

We break away only for Justin to say those little three words. "I love you."

And it's not even midnight yet.
