"Whoa! Nice costume!" Landon exclaimed when he saw me, taking my hand to spin me around and see the full look before pulling me to him for a quick kiss.
"Right back at you Robin Hood," I teased as I stole his green hat.
"Hey! You've already got a hat."
I rolled my eyes, but dumped his hat back atop his head and kissed him again.
"Uh guys? PDA much?" Katie teased, fluffing out her thick, crazy Hermione Granger hair while Nate stood beside her, a goofy grin on his face with an arm around her waist. He looked almost exactly like Ron Weasley; he had even gotten a wig to cover up his brown hair.
Noah was nowhere in sight but was probably with Jenny somewhere, and Mick was also pulling a disappearing act. Thanks to my friends, and the rocking dance, I had managed to push my problems with Blade to the back of my mind.
The dance was being held in the cafeteria, and all the tables had been moved so we could have a huge dance floor. There were strobe lights and pounding loud music while people dressed up in all sorts of costumes danced, grinded, talked, ate, drank, kissed and did a whole bunch of other things. I was never really one for clubs, it always felt too sleazy and stifling, but this kind of party was more my scene. The crowd was bigger than I expected, but then I remembered how the party had been open to other school in the area as well, which drew more people in.
"Holy cow this music is really loud," Katie shouted.
"We're going to have some major headaches tonight."
"Oh well, might as well enjoy ourselves before that happens," Landon grinned as he pulled me to the dance floor, Nate and Katie following behind us.
We danced for a long time to all the good party music, but whenever they played songs that caused the crowd to turn into something resembling an orgy, we escaped the dance floor like the devil himself was after us to hydrate and get snacks. I wasn't too keen on grinding on Landon, or anyone for that matter, especially since Blade was the one who first taught me. The reminder only put a damper on the evening.
Surprisingly, a slow song came on, the DJ probably taking pity on us to give us a sort of break from the higher energy bops, so Landon pulled me out to the dance floor again and twirled me once before pulling me against him, where we joined the sea of swaying couples.
"You know, I've never been one for parties or going out dancing, but this is fun," I said as he spun us around in lazy circles, hands settled warm and firm against the curve of my lower back.
"That's surprising. You're always listening to music and dancing in public."
"If there's a song in my head I'm going to sing and dance to it, no matter where I am."
He bent his head and gave me a quick kiss. "I enjoy the fact that you're so wacky sometimes."
"Hey cutie! Damn girl, you look sexy tonight!" a voice called, laughing.
We pulled away slightly and both looked to the right. At first when I saw Marilyn Monroe standing there, I didn't get it. And then I realized who it was underneath the dress and wig and burst out laughing.
"Oh my God! Mick! You're kidding, right?" I was laughing so hard my ribs ached and I sounded like a wheezing old man.
He twirled once and his white dress spun around his clean shaven legs before he stopped and struck the iconic Marilyn pose, standing perfectly in his white heels. "Does this dress make my butt look big?" he joked, while we cackled away at him. I caught sight of a white bra strap and the dots connected.
"You're the one who stole my bra?" I gaped.
"You said I could take what ever Katie didn't have."
Well. That made more sense than Blade doing it. Would have been nice for him to tell me though.
