Groaning loudly at the sunbeams in my eyes, I tried to roll over to get more comfortable and possibly to fall back asleep, but something was holding me firmly in place. Panicking at being restrained I thrashed wildly, eyes flashing open.
"God damn it Kiana, stop moving!"
I froze, unable to move a single inch. My eyes rolled upward to try and see the face of the person holding me down, seeing as my neck was frozen in place.
"Blade?" My lips felt stiff and I could just barely get them to form his name.
There came his annoyed sigh. "What?"
"I can't move," I tried to say, but it didn't sound quite like that, it was all garbled from my frozen lips. Blade seemed to have caught on though.
"Oh," he said, "Forget that then."
Huffing out a breath in relief, I shifted more carefully this time, but only to curl up better in his arms now that I knew it was only him.
"Why are you in my dorm?" I yawned, closing my eyes. I had a massive headache and I desperately wanted to go back to sleep, but he wouldn't be here if anyone else was around so it had to be late in the morning already.
There was a long pause before he answered, tensing around me. "We're not in your dorm."
"Of course we are, where else would I be?" I forced my eyes open, but they felt all dry and swollen and it was a chore. Despite the dim light, a few slivers of sunshine had peeked through unfamiliar curtains to show an even more unfamiliar room. I jerked upright and this time he let me go. "Where the hell am I?"
There were dark hardwood floors, an open closet in the far corner that looked freaking huge, a night table, a door that led to a gleaming bathroom, rows of bookcases stuffed to the brim with books, and pushed up against the wall was the bed that we were sitting on. It was massive and more comfortable than any other bed I'd ever been in, with deep red sheets and a rail that went around the top with a big black semi see-through curtain that was half closed around it.
"My house. Remember?" He sounded weary, as if expecting me to suddenly blow up if he wasn't careful.
Ignoring his remark, I bit my lip hard as I tried desperately to remember why I was here. And then the images flashed again and my stomach churned.
"Oh."
He paused again, rubbing my arm awkwardly. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
He shook his head at me like he didn't believe me one bit before gently pushing me off his lap. He disappeared once his feet touched the floor and re-appeared at the foot of the bed, "Come on. Go shower, get dressed, and then we'll go to school. We need to make arrangements."
"Arrangements? What arrangements?"
Before I could even blink I was in the huge bathroom and he was tossing clothes at me. I felt mildly queasy about the rapid displacement so soon after just waking up, but I grit my teeth against my gag reflex.
"I'll explain later," he said curtly as I clumsily caught the clothes against my body. "Now go shower. Get dressed. Hurry up."
And with that he was gone and the bathroom door slammed shut.
I flinched at the loud noise, the sound reverberating painfully through my aching head. Numbly stripping off the clothes Landon had given me last night and parts of my costume I was still wearing, I stepped into the big shower. It took me a minute to figure out the fancy nozzles and showerhead, but then I finally managed to turn the water on as hot as I could bear it and let it run over my stiff muscles and messy hair.
