"So let me get this straight," Nate said, still looking doubtful as he leaned against the door frame of the bathroom, watching me get ready. "You and Landon are going on a date?"

"Yes," I replied, brushing my hair until it was smooth and shiny.

"And you are actually willing to date him?" he asked.

"Yes."

"Even after you specifically said you would never go out with him?" he prodded.

"Yes."

"And you're not being blackmailed or otherwise threatened into this?"

"Nate, stop badgering the girl," Katie chastised him.

"I'm not badgering, I'm just curious," he protested, throwing his hands up. "Excuse me for taking an interest after such a 180."

"Same thing, " she said, fluffing her hair as she passed him on her way out of the bathroom. Katie and Nate were heading out but they claimed they were going out as 'friends' to go bowling.

Yeah right.

I wasn't really big on dressing up, particularly after this summer's incident, plus it was just a casual movie date so I stuck to a pair of jean shorts, a plain black t-shirt, and a plaid shirt tied around my waist just in case it was fresh in the theatre. A bit of chapstick and brushed hair and I was ready to go.

We went downstairs to catch the ten thirty bus to town. At school we could only leave campus during the weekends to go to town with the buses that came from our school or if we had family nearby or friends we could go and visit them as long as we were back by seven o'clock at night and made sure to check-in and inform the school of our comings and goings.

Landon was waiting for us outside the dorm building, with Mick by his side.

"Hey, cutie!" Mick said eagerly when he saw me, "Missed me?"

"Yup, and now you totally made my day by showing up here," I teased, hugging him.

"Ha, take that Landon." He stuck his tongue out at Landon as I pulled away.

"I thought we were going on a date, not you and Mick." His cut lip was looking much better today, but his hand was still wrapped in a bandage. He looked pretty good today, in a light blue shirt that matched his eyes, fitting snug over his well toned torso, and a dark pair of jeans. He'd been so annoying at the beginning than I had never really gotten the opportunity to appreciate that he was actually quite good looking.

"And we are," I said, smiling as I looped my arm through his and walked towards the buses.

I spotted Jill and Brian up ahead and slowed down slightly. Landon shot me questioning look before he followed my gaze and scowled. Brian had quite the shiner; his eye was completely bruised and his lip was swollen and still split.

He looked really ugly today.

I sniggered at the thought and pulled Landon forward, deciding I could at least antagonize them a little bit before we went on our date. He deserved it after what he did.

"Oh hey Jill!" I said cheerily as I skid to a halt behind them, "Wow Brian, nice shiner. Where'd you get it?"

He shot me the death glare, as did Jill, while I continued to grin broadly. I had to assume that Brian didn't tell her about his little assault attempt the other night, or else she probably wouldn't have been with him right now. At least, I hoped she wouldn't.

"Hello, Kiana," Jill said, her tone forced to be nice but even then I could hear how irritated she was, glancing at my arm looped through Landon's. "Where are you going?"

"Landon and I are going to see a movie together," I said as he slipped an arm around my waist, pursing his lips to keep from laughing.

"I didn't know you two were that friendly," she said icily.
