Chapter 3

*Nipuna Pov*

"Did you hear?" Chaitra asked in a whisper, and I glanced up from my delicious ice cream to see her with a look that shows she has some secret.

"No! I am busy in eating." I replied shrugging.

"I can see that! Anyway, your ex is having troubles in his marriage." She said making me look at her in surprise.

"I think just one month passed since their marriage right? Then why were they having them already?" I asked her frowning.

"Who knows! I think he kind of rushed to get married after getting his one year dating into the trash because of your dad. Now, he is having trouble because of that." She explained.

"Tell him that I will kill him if he spread those rumors that he rushed because of the incidents with me. Even though if he rushed, then he should have patience to get themselves settled and not complain like a kid, which he is definitely." I said pushing the ice cream away losing the interest in it.

"I think we will get late for a movie if we don't leave now." she said looking at the watch understanding I just got bad mood.

"We are in a mall, Chiatra. And even if we get late..." I trailed off with a feeling of some danger lurking at the back of my head.

"What is it?" she asked, frowning seeing my expression.

"I am late!" I replied in a whisper.

"There is still time for the movie." She replied shaking her head.

"No! I am actually late." I said, stressing the word.

"Oh!" she mumbled understanding and cleared her throat asking "How many days?"

"Ten!" I replied calculating the time.

"Maybe just a normal late. I mean it happens right?" she asked and I really hoped what she is saying is true.

"It never happened to me." I whispered and stood up with panic.

"Don't panic! Let's buy some tests and see." she suggested, and I nodded before we both rushed into the drug store.

"Nipuna!" I heard her knocking on the washroom door, but I can't even stand up after looking at the results.

"What have I done, Chaitra?" I asked her stepping outside the washroom after a few minutes.

"Is it positive?" she asked and I nodded before settling on the bed and pulled my knees to the chest.

"You are on birth control, right? Then how did it happen?" she asked frowning.

"I... I stopped after the break up. I didn't think I would date any time soon." I replied, hiding my face stopping the tears which actually didn't start.

"You mean the father is a one-night stand?" she asked suddenly sitting before me.

"Whom did you think? My married Ex?" I asked her shaking my head.

"Just think, Nipuna. Pregnancy from a married guy is no way better, but this is kind of ok. But, you have to find him and give him the news." She replied, placing her hand over my hand.

"I don't know who the guy is. I even threw the paper away." I pointed out.

"Yeah! You should even tell your dad about it." she mumbled and left after some time.

"Nipuna!" I heard Dad calling me while I continued to stay in my room.

I sighed, getting up and reached downstairs to see a few people in the living room. I frowned, but walked near to my dad who is smiling at them and introduced me to them.
