The Real Reason

Lisanna's POV

I was walking to my house from the grocery when my phone rang. I answered it and the person on the other side started talking.

"You told me they were going to divorce." The voice said and I froze once I realized who the owner of the voice was.

"Sti-ing. You called. I was telling the truth. Natsu told me that they were going to get divorced in one week and after the divorce we were going to live happily ever after." I said sounding confident even though inside I'm scared as hell. Sting is a powerful man. He can order my death with a snap of his fingers. Or worse, he can kill the man I love.

"The why did Natsu say that they won't get a divorce?" He asked coldly and I thought of a good explanation

"That's one of Lucy's wishes. She wished to be married for one more week. Of course Natsu won't bring that topic up until that last day." I said.

"You should hope that you're right. Once I learned that you are lying to me, you know what will happen." He said.

"Yes Sting." I said. He hung up and I sighed in relief.

I hurried home. When I got there my mood lightened when I saw my 5-year-old-son at the doorway, ready to greet me.

"Mommy! Mommy! I got a star at school today! Look! Look!" He said as he showed me a picture he drew of me and him.

I smiled and ruffled his hair that looks exactly like his father's.

"Oh is that so. Then good job. What else happened at school today." I asked as I went inside to put the groceries in the kitchen.

"Nana Laki played tag with me after school and before you got here.." He said and I looked at Laki to see her looking like she just ran a marathon. Which she probably did.

"Did my son tire you Laki?" I asked her.

"I just didn't know he could run that fast. It's like he drank ten liters of energy drink." She huffed. I smiled.

"You can take the rest of the day off. I can handle it from here." I said.

"Are you sure ma'am? I mean, I can still watch him for you today, as long as we don't play tag anymore." She said.

"It's ok. I can handle it. And I want some alone time with my son." I said.

"Ok then." She said then left.

I left my son in the living room watching cartoons while I make our dinner. After I everything is set I called him and we ate together.

"So what else happened to school." I asked.

"Oh! Our teachers father visited her. He was kinda old." He said.

"Hey mommy?" He asked.

"What baby?" I asked.

"Do I have a daddy?" He asked all of a sudden. I froze, not wanting to tell him the truth because I know it will break his heart. I'll just have to sugarcoat it a little bit.

"Well, yes baby, of course you have a daddy." I said.

"Then where is he? Does he not love me?" He asked and I immediately grabbed him in my arms and consoled him.

"Of course he loves you baby." I told him

"Then why isn't he here? One of my other classmates doesn't have a daddy also. She said that her daddy left her because he loves someone other than her mommy. That he left because he said that he doesn't love her also. Does daddy not love us?" He asked.

"Of course he loves us baby. Right now, he's just........trapped. He's trapped somewhere he doesn't want to be. And it will take him a while to break free." I said sincerely.

"Really?" He asked.

"Of course baby. Don't worry, the moment he breaks free, we'll be one big happy family." I said. It's true. That will happen soon. I'll do everything so that my son will have a bright and happy future. And I won't let anything stand in my way.
