My eyes flutter open. I blink a few times. I'm in my bed. I roll over to see Luke not in his bed. In fact I don't think he's even here. I shrug, and then go over into the washroom.
I look at myself in the mirror. My blue-grey eyes look fresh and alive. I'm glad. I throw my lose brown locks into a ponytail and rinse my face with water. I glance at the clock. It's 7:00. I got a good nap.
I flip through my textbook. Taking in every word. I write notes as I read through. I put my book down and head to the small kitchen. I make myself some hot chocolate. I've been craving it.
I sip the warm liquid. It feels good going down my throat. I keep reading for a while and then the door clicks open. It's Luke. I notice his cheek has a reddish kiss stain on it. I roll my eyes.
"Where were you?" I ask. Obviously knowing where he was. With a girl.
"Doing stuff," he smirks.
"Oh... I'm sure it was lovely, judging your left cheek," I say sarcastically. His eyes widen as he rushes to the washroom. He comes out, while rubbing his cheek and it disappears, still leaving a light pink blob there.
"It was lovely," he defends.
One week later:
(A/N: Sorry for time skip)I sit in Amanda's room as she quickly brings in two cups of lemonade. "Oh, you didn't have to make lemonade," I say politely.
"I didn't. I poured it out of a carton," she shrugs. I laugh making her laugh too.
"Wow, you must've slaved for hours," I say sarcastically.
"Oh yeah, I did," she follows along. I laugh.
"So how's life?" I ask.
"Good. It's been normal. Like uni life should be," she says. I nod.
"Ugh living with Luke is so hard," I complain. She lets out a stifled laugh.
"Yeah. It probably is. He's really annoying."
"Plus he's a cocky, dirty-minded jerk," I add. She nods in agreement. I sigh. I finish my lemonade. "I should get going. I'll see you soon," I say as I get up.
"See you," she says as I leave through the door. I walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator to my room.
I open my room door. Luke isn't here. Good. I go to my closet. It's only 7:00 p.m. So I decide to get some internet time in, instead of studying. I first go to my closet and change into comfortable clothes.
I put on a loose black cropped tee and put on some black sweats from pink. You can tell, because it says PINK in bold white words on the butt. The shirt exposes a bit of my flat stomach, but whatever.
I open up my laptop and put on my black rimmed eyeglasses. Yes I wear glasses but I have contacts that I wear instead. But right now I do not wanna put those in.
I watch some YouTube videos. Zoella, Bethany Mota, Tyler Oakley. They're my favourites. After finishing up that, I check my e-mails for replies about journalism stuff. Not yet. I'm glad. I wanna take it slow.
I hear my phone vibrate. I check the caller ID. Noah. "Hello?" I say.
"Hey," he answers. "What's up?"
"Nothing," I say back. "You?"
"Missing you," he says cheekily.
"D'aww stop being so cheesy!" I say and he laughs.
"But seriously I miss you. When are you gonna come visit?" He asks.
"I dunno? Not soon, because I have too much overwhelming crap happening with school and stuff," I complain.
"Aw. I wish you could come. I might come visit some time soon?" He says.
"Yeah. For sure you should come some time soon," I answer.
"Yeah, I'll see. I'll call you back soon, gotta go," he says urgently and hangs up. That was weird. He didn't even say love you. He usually does. Whatever.
I put my phone down. I shrug and take out my textbook. I start reading from where I left off.
I start to feel sleepy after a while of reading. I wave it off. But soon, my sleepiness takes over and I drift off.
•••
I wake up to murmuring. I'm on my bed. I didn't fall asleep there. I was in the desk. I open my eyes and see Luke standing over by the couch. He's on the phone. Bickering.
I shrug. I stretch and groan. Did Luke put me here? I mean he's the only one who can get in, without knocking. He has a key. I always lock the door.
"You don't understand!" He bickers. "No that's not what I want to do!" I see him glance at me. He cuts himself off as he sees me staring at him. I look down. "Whatever. I'll talk to you later," he say and hangs up.
"Sorry, f-for staring at you..." I apologize. He smiles.
"It's fine. Don't worry about it," he says. "How long have you been listening?" He asks sounding concerned.
"I just woke up... Two minutes ago... Why?" I rub my eyes.
"No reason," he waves it off.
Luke's P.O.V
(Before Eva woke up)I walk into the room. I see Eva on the desk chair, sound asleep. I tip toe over, her face is so innocent and peaceful. Whenever I'm by her, I feel this slight tension. And my mind races to think about how we could be together.
But I'm stupid to think anything of it. She'd never think of me that way. Especially since I'm a jerk. I don't know why I'm like that. It just happens and I have no control over myself when it over takes me. I shake my head and decide to Carry her to her bed.
I gently place my hand at the back of her neck and grab her legs. I carry her to her bed, bridal style. She makes a slight whimpering noise, but then recovers back to her peaceful expression.
I pull her covers on to her. After that, I hear my phone buzz. I quickly check the caller ID. It's my dad. My dad and I don't have that great of a relationship. He flaked out on my mom, Amanda and I, for another girl. I was only 12.
He still thinks we can have a relationship, but after him leaving, I hated him. Before he flaked out, I still never talked to him. He would never show interest in talking to me. But I'd hear my mother and him fighting, late into the night as a kid.
I hit accept. "What?" I say blankly.
"Hey kiddo," he beams. I roll my eyes.
"What do you want," I say through gritted teeth.
"Well, I was wondering if you'd like an internship at my company. I can pay you-" he explains but I cut him off.
"No, I don't want anything to do with you or your company. I'm still studying to be a software engineer, I'm not one yet," I snarl. There's a pause.
"Son, I was just offering you an opportunity. I want you to be successful and I'm just trying to help!" He urges on.
"Well I'm not gonna be successful if I follow what you did!" My voice gets louder.
"But son-"
"You don't understand! That's not what I want to do!" I bicker.
"Okay I'm sorry. I just want us to be okay-" I glance at Eva who is sitting up, awake starring at me.
"Whatever. I'll talk to you later," I say then hang up. Eva looks down, in the cutest way. I can't help but smile. Ugh what's happening to me? Why do I want her so bad? It's only been a week. I'm going crazy.
