Joey sat alone at the bar drink in his hand as he set down his phone. He knew he was making a mistake but isn't that what he wanted? Something to relieve the tension and misery that he had been going through the past week. With every swig of alcohol that he took bits and pieces of sadness and dis pair seemed to temporarily disappear. Joey like the relieving feeling of false happiness that the liquid was giving him. Within 15 minutes of drinking from his glass a tan women sat next to him. "It was about time you called, needed a break?" She asked Joey. Joey turned and smirked. "I've been needing this for a week." Joey joked not even feeling at this point. The alcohol had turned him numb and lucid, his actions not even intended. "Guess I came to the rescue" jewel said with a wink as she took a swig from her glass of straight whiskey. They sat and talked for a good 20 minutes before a good buzz had clouded their actions. "Let's dance." Joey slurred as he stood up and grabbed Jewel's hand. "I don't know how to dance." Jewel slurred as she stumbled out of her seat with a laugh as they both made their way to the crowded dance floor. Music and people flooded the small area. The two dancing in rhythm. Both smiling from ear to ear.
The world around them including everyone around them had fallen out of perspective. Their lips met each other leaving no gap In between them. Joey pulled back surprised as did Jewel. When Joey felt no remorse he leaned back in once again closing that gap. The drunken night led them both back to Jewel's small apartment 3 blocks from the hospital and the bar.Joey woke up the next morning. His head pounding from the amount of alcohol that was consumed. He phone buzzed beside him, 13 missed calls from Alan, 5 messages from Chad. Joey sighed and rubbed his face. Then it hit him, that wasn't the hotels nightstand that he took his phone off of. He looked around, this wasn't his hotel room either. "Oh no, what have I done." Joey groaned as he rubbed his face. Guilt was all he could feel, how could he have done "that" to Kalyn who couldn't even defend herself right now. "Don't worry, we didn't do what you think we did." Jewel said as she brought Joey a cup of black coffee and an Advil. "What?" Joey asked confused, he was in another woman's bed not even remembering what had happened the night before. "Well we were possibly going to but... You said her name, and I couldn't. I couldn't ruin a relationship like that. I stopped you and then later you got sick so I washed your shirt and cleaned you up before helping you to bed. I slept on the couch." Jewel said as she pulled a shirt from the top of the dresser behind her. "Thank you." Joey said still feeling like he betrayed Kalyn. "I'm going to get ready for work but you can leave whenever." Jewel said as she slowly slinked out of the room. Joey took another sip of coffee before hitting Alan's contact and bringing the phone up to his ear. "Where are you, I've been trying to reach you all morning." Alan sounded worried through the phone. "Alan, I made a huge mistake" Joey said through the phone as tears of anger and guilt welled up in his eyes.
"Do you still love her?" Alan asked after Joey told him everything that happened. "I'll love Kalyn till the day I die, I don't know why I did that. Maybe to just forget about the world for a short amount of time, but I should never do that because Kalyn is my world." Joey said as he sat with Alan in the hospitals cafeteria picking at the plate of eggs and hash-browns infront of him. "You can't let all of this tear you down Joey, it can't affect your faith like that." Alan said taking a bite of eggs from his plate. "Your right." Joey answered back. "I'm not that hungry ." Joey added as he stood up and through his plate away. Alan knew better then to chase him. That's how they ended up in this mess in the first place.
Kalyn, I almost made a huge mistake last night. Well, I guess I already made a big mistake. I cheated, I called this girl and we started kissing. I would of gone farther but she stopped me. I shouldn't of gone to the bar I shouldn't of kept her number. I'm sorry babe. I am so sorry. I feel extremely shitty about all of this. I'm not the man I want to be anymore. I need to be the strong one for you babe. Yet, your proving to be the strong one." Joey said with a small laugh at the end as he confessed to Kalyn. Even though Joey was apologizing his mistake was still eating him up on the inside. "I'm in a rut babe, I really am. I'm depressed and I feel like all of this is my fault. We would of never been here if I hadn't protected you better. I'm sorry i'm such a screw up. You deserve someone better." Joey said shaking his head. Joey sat with Kalyn just looking at her, studying her face that once held so many emotions, sometimes all at once, now held one blank emotion of no feeling what so ever.
He must of fallen asleep because he was awoken to a nurse taking vitals. her back was turned to him, when she turned around to read a machine by him that's when she paused. "Joey?" she asked. "Jewel" Joey said disappointed. Hey eyes turned soft. "I didn't know that Ms. Woods was your girlfriend. She's such a fighter, most patients with her type of injury usually don't make it past the first week mark." Jewel said as she jotted down numbers from Kalyn's heart monitor onto her clipboard. "Look I'm really sorry for last night." Joey blurted out due to anxiousness. "Joey it's not your fault. I should of just talked to you, you must be needing someone to vent to other than your friends." Jewel said as she set the clipboard down and sat next to Joey in the empty chair beside him. "I'm just so afraid to loose her, I feel like I already have." Joey spoke as his gaze fixated on her silent girlfriend. "You haven't lost her, she's gonna make it through this, she's already gotten this far. Her injuries by the looks of her chart are healing very well. It's a matter of if she wants to wake up and when." Jewel said calmly as she followed Joey's gaze to Kalyn. "Can we try to put this all behind us and start over?" Joey asked. Jewel smiled and extended her hand, "Hi, I'm Jewel. I'm going to be one of Kalyn's main nurses." Joey shook her hand and smiled slightly, "I'm Joey, I'm her boyfriend." "Nice to meet you" They both said at the same time both causing them to laugh. "I'm going to go back to ohio for thanksgiving, not staying long but if anything happens to her, can you call me?" Joey asked Jewel after they had stopped laughing. "Ill keep you posted." Jewel said standing up and grabbing her clipboard from the table. "Thanks" Joey answered as she nodded the walked out. Alan and Brycie offered to stay with Kalyn in case she wakes up in joeys absence. The rest were going to go home and make sure everything was OK in everyone's homes and to take care of the bills. Joey was scared to death about going home. He would be several miles away from Kalyn. If something were to happen he wouldn't be able to be there in a matter of minutes. Everyone said it was the best for him to have some time with his family and let them know what was going on. Joey himself knew he was falling into a dark path, but he couldn't seem to get himself out of it. He hadn't even told his mother or father, not even his brother. The fans didn't even know. Everything that happened to Kalyn so far had been kept as private as possible for both Kalyn and joeys sake.
