Glancing up at the game clock I watched as it ticked down, for the last time. The game horn sounded throughout the arena and the LA Bruins fans applaud them as they celebrated their eleventh straight win. Standing up from my seat I turned to face Peter.
He smiled and hugged me, "Ending your last game with a win, not bad."
I chuckled "No it's not bad at all."
As I pulled out of the hug, Peter went inside of his suit jacket and pulled out a horizontal light blue colored box, "Here is a little something from the club to thank you for your hard work in the last few months."
He placed the box into my palm and as I opened it I saw that it was a black and gold encrusted Rolex watch.
"Oh my gosh, it's beautiful." I looked back up at Peter, "Pete, you guys really didn't need to do this."
Peter chuckled and patted me on the shoulder, "It's the least we could do after what you've done for us."
I sighed and hugged Peter again, "Tell the Jacobs that I thank them for the gift and to be given the opportunity of working with a great group of terrific people."
"I will as soon as I get back to Boston."
"Thank you." Looking back down at the watch I took it out if its' case and placed it on my wrist.
"Nice looking watch."
I smiled, "Yeah it is, and speaking of time, I have several interviews I need to attend right now."
"Alright but after the interviews are through go to the locker room, so we can all leave together for your dinner departure meal."
I nodded and grabbed my bag as I headed towards the exit, "Don't worry I'll be there."
I left the room and headed backstage to get ready for the many interviews. While walking I stopped once I saw the NESN film crew waving at me. I chuckled and walked over to them.
"Hello you guys. Seems that is going to be the last time I'll be able to say that to you all."
Their reporter and my personal favorite, Naoko, looked up at me, "May we get an interview from you?"
"Of course you can!" I stood next to Naoko and looked at their camera man, "Hey Steve, how are you doing?"
Steve was setting up the camera but he looked up and smiled at me, "I'm doing great. The Bruins won."
I chuckled and Naoko looked over at Steve and watched as he counted down from five. As soon as he gave us the go, Naoko began speaking, "I am Naoko Funayama and with me is now former President Jessica Neely who has just finished up her last game with the Bruins." She sighed and looked up at me, "Are you as sad as we are?"
I let out a small laugh, "Of course I am, but I knew that this job was never going to be a permanent one. I'm just glad that I was able to be given this opportunity."
"You have an astounding record of losing only 6 of your 52 games as president that is one of the best statistics for the team in recent years. What is your secret to keeping a mere perfect game winning average?"
"Oh, I didn't have any partake in that. It was all the players and Julien and his team's success. I was just a witness who was lucky enough to see this all unfold."
"I think that you did play somewhat of a part in their success." She paused for a moment, "As you depart from your position, what are you going to miss the most?"
