Fading {Book Two of The Descendants series}

Chapter Six

"Clouse is waking up," Skylor informed wearily.

They had been working to remove the rubble for almost two days. Time was of the essence! If they didn't finish this soon then several of the trapped people could die.

"Dad!" Stephanie shouted. She had arrived a couple of hours ago to help where she could. "Can you here me?"

"How can I not hear you with your yelling," Clouse said without opening his eyes.

"Oh good, he is fine," Zane said rolling his eyes.

"Just as sarcastic as usual," Jay nodded.

Clouse slowly opened an eye. Stephanie was at first relieved until she saw the panicked look on his face.

"Dad, what's wrong?" Stephanie asked.

Some of the others that were nearby began to look worried at her tone. Zane walked up quickly behind her.

"Dad! Speak!" Stephanie shouted in panic.

"I can't see," he said hurriedly. "I can't see! Why can't I see!"

"Olivia!" Jay called loudly.

"Yes?" She asked coming up. She looked absolutely exhausted.

"Clouse says he can't see!" Jay said taking deep breaths.

"Jay, calm down!" Skylor said smacking him on the back of the head.

"Hmm," Olivia hummed. "Clouse 'as any light entered your vision?"

"None," Clouse said with his eyes wide open.

"Somebody go get Alita," Olivia said calmly.

"That means you, Jay," Skylor said.

Jay went off to get Alita and Olivia examined Clouse's eyes. She began to look pensive.

Alita arrived and began to pace back and forth worriedly. Clouse could sense her agitation and he held out his hand blindly. She took it and sat down.

"Dis is not medical," Olivia said in shock. "Someting else 'as done dis."

"What does that mean?" Lloyd asked coming into the tent.

"Lloyd! We are through! We found them! They are alive!" They heard Kai and Noah yelling.

"Go help them," Clouse said. "We can figure out what happened to me later.

"I will stay and run an analysis on you," Zane said beginning to scan him.

The ninja sat wearily around the kitchen table at the monastery. Noah had fallen asleep in his chair with the little girl they found in his lap. She had taken a liking to Noah and would go to no one else. The poor girl had lost what was left of her family after all.

"You all look exhausted," Misako said. She set a tray full of steaming cups of coffee on the table.

"We aren't just physically exhausted," Aira said softly.

"We will need to find somewhere for the Druids to go," Wu said worriedly.

"Why did they attack the Druids though?" Kyle asked.

"Why not attack us first?" Haden asked.

"Maybe we weren't their first target," Kai said. "We are so use to being the first ones on everyone's death list that we didn't consider that."

"The Druids have been peaceful!" Xavier shouted.

Stephanie jumped, "please keep you voice down, Xavier. You made the baby jump."

"Sorry," Xavier said sitting back. Katrina grabbed his hand.

"Maybe someone was not angry with any Druid specifically," Zane suggested.

"Sephtis," Julia said suddenly.

"Please, don't say that name," Xavier and Stephanie said at the same time.

"But he was once a Druid," Cole nodded.

"So that would explain an attack on the Druids and not us," Nya added.

"But the Druids cash Sephtis out," Garmadon said. "Why would one be so delusional?"

"Why would one want to change Ninjago into his image?" Wu asked.

"I wanted to be with my family," Garmadon said slightly defensively.

"Let's not fight," Amaya said sipping her coffee.

"Did Olivia or Zane ever find out why Clouse went blind?" Jason asked.

"We aren't sure," Zane said. "It is very strange. If it had been a medical matter Olivia could've healed him."

"Where is Olivia?" Skylor asked.

"She is asleep," Jason said rubbing his eyes.

"In fact, that's what we should all be doing," Lloyd said.

"Riley?" Danielle asked. "How did you bring me back?"

"I told you," Riley answered. "Magic."

"Only dark magic can accomplish something so powerful," she said shrewdly.

"It doesn't matter," Riley said. "At least you're here."

"Dark magic is nothing to be trifled with," Danielle persisted.

"Trust me," Riley said. "It was fine."

A/n- well, I finally got an update done! Yay!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Can't believe it's 2016 already! It's my graduation year!!! Yay!!!

Saw the new Star Wars Tuesday!!! It was awesome!!!! <3 LOVED it!! Though I was so sad at the end!! :'( I won't spoil it for you.

Who is your favorite Classic Star Wars character? Mine is Han Solo because Harrison Ford is awesome!!

Who is your favorite Star Wars Prequel character? Mine is Obi-Wan because he is awesome!! I love Anakin but he goes bad :(
