Chapter Eight

"Mission accomplished," Jay said proudly.

He walked into his and Nya's bedroom. Nya was sitting on their bed looking at something.

"Nya, didn't you hear me?" Jay asked.

"Huh? Oh, sorry, Jay," Nya said looking up with tired eyes.

"Didn't you go back to sleep after we left?" Jay asked with some concern.

"I couldn't sleep," Nya said shrugging. "Natalie is very hurt."

"We tried to warn her, Nya," Jay said shaking his head. "She wanted to learn this the hard way."

"I know," Nya sighed. "It just hurts to see my daughter so upset."

"I feel the same way, Sweetie," Jay said. He then proceeded to jump on the bed and hug Nya from behind.

"Jay," she laughed.

The door opened to reveal Jason. He gave his parents a 'oh my word, that's so weird' look.

"Yes?" Jay asked ignoring his son's disgusted look.

"Natalie won't come out of her room," Jason said pointing his thumb behind him.

"She is really hurt right now, Jason," Nya said rebuking him for being unsympathetic.

"It's her own fault," Jason said. "I don't mean to he mean but we did warn her about Robert."

"That's what I said," Jay nodded. "Give her some time."

"Oh! Uncle Lloyd said that we were going to have a meeting with Scales Jr. after he gets a nap. He recommends that all of us who taught Robert a lesson take one too."

"That is an amazing idea," Jay said flopping back onto his pillows.

A soft knock sounded at Natalie's door. She ignored it. A few seconds later the knock came again.

"Who is it?" She said rather harshly.

"It's Jacqueline."

Natalie soften her tone, "what do you need?"

"I wanted to see how you were doing?" Jacqueline said quietly.

"I just kinda want some time to myself," Natalie said.

"I understand," Jacqueline said.

Natalie heard Jacqueline walk away from the door and down the hall. Natalie laid down in her bed and before she knew it, she was fast asleep.

Natalie jerked awake at the sound of a ear-piercing scream. She grabbed her sword and ran downstairs.

"What happened?" She asked quickly.

"I don't know," A sleepy looking Lloyd answered.

"What was that?!" Noah asked stumbling into the room.

"Sssssssomebody sssshould probably investigate," Scales said. Natalie jumped. She had forgotten he was here.

"Ah! Guys!" Cole yelled from his room. "Help!"

"What's wrong?" Aira asked bounding towards his and Amaya's room.

"I think Amaya is going into labor," Cole said shakily.

"No!" She yelled sarcastically. "I just screamed for no reason."

"Come on, Amaya," Aira said laughing at her and Cole's interaction. "Let's get you to the hospital."

"What do I do?" Cole asked frantically.

"You could try calming down," Amaya said. She was able to stand now. Her contraction had passed.

"Dad, this is your third kid," Noah said rolling his eyes. "Shouldn't you be less panicked?"

"Number doesn't change anything," Cole said in a much calmer tone.

"He is right," Aira laughed. "You should've seen Lloyd when Jacqueline and James were born."

"What did he do?" Natalie smirked.

"We will not discuss that," Lloyd said in a grumpy tone of voice.

"Ssssseems like a doossssy of a ssstory," Scales laughed.

"What is going on?" Ronin asked as they walked by.

"Mom, is in labor," Noah said. "I think my Aunt Aira and Uncle Lloyd are going to go with my dad to the hospital."

"Yup," Aira nodded. "We will call you when it gets close."

"Ssssso much for that meeting," Scales said.

"We can have it later," Natalie said.

"What am I sssssuposed to do meanwhile," Scales asked.

"We could watch a movie," Noah suggested. "It would be funny if we watched Indiana Jones."

"Why?" Scales asked.

"Because his greatest fear is snakes," Natalie laughed.

"Glad to see you doing better, Sis," Jason said.

"I'm still upset. Like really upset," Natalie said. "But it's nothing I can't handle."

"You are a very ssssstrong girl," Scales nodded in approval.

Natalie blushed. "Thanks, I guess."

"Indiana Jones it is!" Noah said running towards the living room.

"I would think you would be more nervous about your mom," Jason called after him.

"My dad has enough nervousness for both of us," Noah called back.

"Good point," Jason said.

"Mind if I joint you kids?" Scott asked coming into the room.

Scales looked at him in surprise. Scott noticed Scales for the first time and jumped.

"What is a Serpentine doing here?" Scott asked suspiciously.

"This is Scales Jr. Xavier, Kyle, and Jason grew up with him," Natalie said. "He actually saved me last night."

"You are half Serpentine," Scales said looking at Scott's eyes.

"Ya, and what about it," Scott asked nervously.

"Who are you, exactly?"

"I'm Lloyd's adopted brother/cousin," Scott said. "I'm technically Misako's brother's son. He married a Serpentine woman."

"Well, it is a pleasure to meet another of our own," Scales said. "Please, join us."
