"Great! It's a deal then!" I give a fake smile, silently hating the proposition. As long as he believes he will get his way, I still have a chance of shaking him if we ever reach land.
He drops my hand quickly and turns back towards the direction he said was the way to go.
"Alright, (f/n)," he says, in a much better mood than before. "Onwards! As fast as you can!"
"As fast as I can?" I mumble. "There's no oar, or sail." I'm slowly switching back to panic mode.
He turns around, pulling his lower eyelid down and his tongue is hanging out, "Idiot, just use your wind magic, duh."
"I don't understand why you think I can do whatever 'wind magic' is, Judal," I reply as non-sarcasticly as I can. I don't want to ruin his good mood, for both of our sakes.
"This sucks, I didn't think through this deal," he groans. "I guess I'm the role of your babysitter, unfortunately."
"Are you not able to do wind magic, Judal?" I ask, annoyed by his pampered attitude now.
He chuckles, "Well, of course. But I'm not going to do it for you."
"What! Why not?" I'm bewildered.
He sits down with his hands behind his head and leg placed across his knee, "Because I really don't feel like it."
I widen my stance, putting one foot on each side and begin to rock the boat, knocking Judal off balance, "We're going to starve if you don't do something!" He's making me so frustrated already that I'm almost to the brink of tears.
"Oi! Stop it, you moron!" he yells out in defiance to the boat rocking. "Are you trying to get a sea serpent to attack us?!"
I immediately stop, "S-Sea serpent?"
He clenches his fists and hisses through his teeth, "Yes, dumbass. Much to your dismay but much to my delight, you're gonna have to listen to everything I say if you want to survive."
I hesitantly answer, "Fine. But, if you won't do wind magic yourself, will you at least show me how to do it?"
"If I must," he sighs dramatically heavy. "It's like taking care of a child."
"Says the one who behaves like one," I grumble inaudibly to myself.
He stands up and stretches while I patiently wait. He takes a loud, obnoxious yawn. He's definitely making an effort now to be annoying.
"Alright, little baby, let's teach you to fly, shall we?" He smiles sinisterly, throwing an arm around my shoulders, receiving a scowl from me. I have to wonder if he's forgotten how to truly smile.
"Let's just get this over with," I say in a firm tone. "I'm starving, and thirsty. Aren't you?"
"Oh, you'll know," he laughs. "I'll complain nonstop when I am." Oh, so he does acknowledge his behaviorism after all.
"Listen closely the first time around because I'll get annoyed if I have to repeat myself, got it?" he asks softly in my ear. I nod in response.
"Good!" He exclaims. "Now, magicians are able to see what's called rukh. They're small and they look like birds. Some come in white--gross, and some come in black--which is the best!" I look at him questioningly and that's when I come to notice the shroud of black birdlike beings fluttering around him.
