"What? You mean to tell me, the Chance Matthews, the one who got in a fight and beat up 3 upper class men, got suspended for a month and never came back, is living next door to you?"

"Yeah, pretty much." I shrugged nonchalantly. Sky looked at me with wide eyes.

"How are you not reacting to this?" Sky looked totally flabbergasted.

I shrugged. "I don't really care."

Suddenly Sky gasped, really loud might I add, almost giving me a freaking heart attack.

"What if you convinced him to come back to school?!" She looked at me with expecting eyes?

I smiled sweetly at her.

"No."

"Please Andi!" Sky begged, folding her hands together as if she were praying. "All the boys here are boring!"

"What about Reece, Seth, and the Fox twins? I thought you loved them." I furrowed my eyebrows. Not all the boys here were boring.

"Yeah but," she stuck her bottom lip out, quivering. "You could be the one to bring back Chance Matthews, bad boy extraordinaire."

"No Sky! You remember what he did. I'm not doing it." I walked away.

I don't know why I do it. I always give in to those dumb puppy eyes my mom has. And that's how I found myself on the front porch of the Matthews' house with a platter of cookies.

I rang the doorbell, half hoping they weren't home.

That dream was soon shattered as Ms. Matthews opened the door.

"Oh! How lovely! Please, you must come in dear!" She said giddily, opening the door more. I smiled and stepped inside.

"Is that you Andi?" She asked sweetly, taking the platter and walking down a narrow hallway.

"Hey Ms. Matthews."

"Excuse the mess. We don't get visitors often and as you probably know we just moved in." She set the cookies down on a table in the tile covered kitchen.

"The house hasn't changed one bit Ms. Matthews."

She waved that off with a shake of her hand. "Please, call me Anne."

She ushered me to a chair and sat down across from me. There was stomping as someone came down the stairs.

"So I assume you go to Rosewood High?"

"Yes ma'am, I'm a senior there as of yesterday."

She smiled. "That's great. I'm so glad you stayed."

"Hey mom."

Speak of the devil.

"Chance! This is Andi! You remember her don't you? You two used to be the best of friends." Anne looked up at her son in delight. She had wide eyes and a sparkle I noticed when she looked at him.

I turned around and Chance stood there. He went rigid. And then he quickly turned back around.

Anne sighed. "I'm afraid he's just not that social anymore. He's a good boy but I believe you have heard about what happened in his freshman year."

I nodded.

"Ever since he hasn't wanted to go back. As smart a boy he is, he's being an idiot." Anne stared off into the distance. "Oh! How rude of me! Would you like a drink?"

"I'm sorry but I can't. I've got dance practice. But thank you."

Anne nodded knowingly. "It was nice to see you again Andi."

"Likewise."

Anne showed me to the door. "Bye dear!"

I waved and began to head back home. That is until someone grabbed my arm and put a hand over my mouth. I widened my eyes as they pulled me down into the huge bush that was separating the two yards. I was pulled into a small clearing that was surrounded by tall bushes.

"Are you trying to get me to go back to school?" A deep voice uttered in my ear.

"What?!" I broke free of my captor and shuffled back from him. It was Chance.

"Did the school send you here to get me to come back?" He asked, getting closer.

"No! My mom made me come here to give you cookies!" I stared at him with wide eyes.

He looked lost in thought. "I'll see you tomorrow then, Andi Summers."

And with that he got up and walked back into his house, as if nothing happened.

Confused, I slowly got up and walked to my house.

"How was it?" My mom asked as soon as I walked in.

"I hate you."
