Chapter 3: Ambers POV

A few days after going to Macy's house I headed home. After Breaking up with Mark I expected him to be gone, but I was wrong. His car was still parked in my driveway, and when I opened the front door the house reeked of smoke and alcohol. Mark was inside, probably drunk out of his mind. I found him in the living room, drinking out of a bottle of beer and about twenty others surrounding him. "Get the fuck out of my house." I yelled, taking the beer bottle out of his hand. Mark looked up at me, seeming to only notice me just now. He looked as if he hasn't shaved since I left, and his eyes were completely blood shot. My body trembled as he stood up, incredibly close to me.

"You're not leaving me. You're mine." He said, grabbing my shoulder. I yelped as his grip tightened.

"No I'm not. Leave my house now." I said through gritted teeth. Mark raised his hand and slapped me across my face, and it stung like hell. I flung my body, trying to get away from him. He was so drunk it worked, and my shoulder was free. I stepped away from him, backing to the open door. Mark followed me, obviously about to pounce on me. I ran through the door, my mind letting my feet take me where they pleased. I hear Mark's feet hit hard on the pavement behind me. He was slower due to his intoxicated state. I turned the corner and found myself on Raven Court. Mark gained speed but I was a good fifty feet away from him. I looked around trying to find somewhere to escape to. Macy's house was at least five miles away, and Tara's was further. I looked at the approaching houses and saw Niall's apartment, about a hundred feet away. As much as I hated doing it, my fear of Mark conquered my hatred of Niall. Mark got further behind me, and he kept yelling my name, sounding more angry than before. I got to Niall's apartment and knocked on his door loudly without stopping. Mark got closer and closer with every second.

"NIALL PLEASE! IT'S AMBER!" I yelled, seeing movement through the glass in the door. Mark was ten feet away, almost an arms reach away.

"NIALL PLEASE!" I yell before Mark gets a grasp on my shirt. I sigh as I realize I'm not getting out if this easily.

Niall's POV:

I had just gotten out of the shower and wrapped a towel around my waist when I heard loud knocking on the door. I decided to let the person pass, but then I heard Amber yelling for help. I ran out of my room, and freaked when I realized I was only wearing a towel. I thought of throwing on some pants but thought otherwise after Ambers second cry of help. I flung the door open to see Amber's ex-boyfriend grabbing her by the collar of her shirt. She was crying, which startled me on its own. Amber reached her arm out for me. I pulled her in towards me but her ex-boyfriend wouldn't let her go. I reached over Amber and punched his face, shocking him and making him loosen his grip on her. I pulled Amber in and locked the door, the boy still standing outside shocked. Amber clutched onto my chest, letting warm tears fall on my chest. I sat down on the couch, scared my towel Would fall. I let Amber sit on my lap and cry. I was still shocked she was crying in front of me, let alone on me. Her crying started slowing, and her chest heaved in and out slowly.

"I-I'm so-orry." She whispered, pulling away and wiping her tears away with her hand. I took my finger and wiped away a small tear resting on her cheek, which surprised both of us. I

"I thought he was going to kill me." She said, her voice still hitching.

"Shh, Amber it's okay, he can't get you now." I cooed. She nodded and stared at me. I looked as her eyes traveled from my eyes to my chest and arms, her face looking confused. "I didn't know you had so many tattoos." She said, almost talking to herself. I felt a sting in my chest as she mentioned it, and looked away from her.

"Can we not talk about them please?" I asked, not ready to tell her, or anyone about them. She nodded slowly and climbed off my lap, sitting besides me. This Amber, the sweet one, is almost harder to understand than the rude Amber.
