Chapter Thirty-Three

Chloe's car hung over the edge of the bridge and she was scared. She didn't know what to do. A sudden move could send the car off the bridge. Her phone was next to her and she thought she could reach it. She could just about reach the phone. The car was rocking backwards. "Okay Chloe. Keep calm. Not a lot has happened today, your husband forced you into sex. You gave birth to your fifth child and your car is hanging over a bridge," Chloe mumbled to herself. She didn't know what to do.

Max was worrying about Chloe now. She hadn't been heard from for about an hour. Tom had told Charlotte what had happened and she had told Max. Max had been fuming about it at first but then he realised he had as good as raped her. She would no doubt want a divorce. He would continue to make it up to her until she believed that he was sorry. He didn't want to lose her. The fourteen years they were together meant everything to him.

Chloe had dialled 999 and told them what had happened. She had blood dripping down her face. She felt everything turn black before she passed out.

"Chloe, come back home baby. I'm sorry."

Max hung up and sighed. He needed Chloe to come back home as soon as possible. Charlotte had come over to check on him. "She still not back?"
"No. She may have done something stupid. I've hurt more than what I've ever done before," Max said.
"She'll come back Max. She loves you. I know she does," Charlotte said. Max sighed. He wasn't convinced.

Max went for a walk. Charlotte went with him. They were both struggling with mental illnesses and it was hurting them both.

They walked to the bridge and saw Chloe's car. They ran over and got in the back to balance the car out. Max pulled Chloe gently out of the car along with her phone. The car was ready to tip as the ambulance had arrived.

Charlotte got out of the car and it fell and exploded. Charlotte screamed. She was hanging on to the edge of the bridge and her foot was burnt off. She was in pain but couldn't let go.

The paramedics helped Charlotte but Chloe was still unconcious. She had been losing a lot of blood. They didn't know if Chloe had internal injuries until they had assessed her. Charlotte had been taken to A&E along with Chloe. Max went with them both.

Charlotte had gone to the Burn Ward while Chloe went to Resus. Max had rang Eddie and told him what happened. He would be there soon. Aubree was minding the kids. Max felt bad for her. She had been through too much but she had minded the kids whenever her parents needed it. Max knew he would have to buy Aubree something nice to show his appreciation for everything.

Chloe had woken up but she was in agony. Max walked in. Chloe felt scared. "I won't hurt you," Max said.
"Okay."
"I'm sorry baby."
Chloe cried. "What happened?"
"The car went over the bridge and exploded," Max said. Chloe gripped Max's hand.
"Are you okay?" Chloe asked.
"I'm fine. It's Charlotte," Max said. Chloe frowned.

Charlotte was in so much agony they had to sedate her. They were going to give her a prosthetic foot as there was nothing left of her foot after the explosion.

Chloe wanted to see Charlotte once Max told her but the doctor came in the check Chloe. Eddie came in to see Chloe too. "Are you alright sweetheart?" Eddie asked.
"Fine."
"Have you heard about Charlotte?" Eddie asked her. Chloe nodded again. "What's wrong? Normally you'd be at Charlotte's bedside by now," Eddie said.
"Well in case you'd forgotten, I'm injured too," Chloe said. Eddie sighed.
"She's a bit more injured than you."
Chloe rolled her eyes. "I'm sorry, I'll injure myself even more just so I can sit with Charlotte!" Chloe yelled. Once again, she hadn't taken her medication. It had been a month since Emily had been attacked and that's how long Chloe hadn't been taking her medication for.
Chloe, calm down. You're able to walk. She's not!" Eddie yelled. Chloe rolled her eyes again.
"I didn't ask her to get in the car after me!"
"You ungrateful little cow. You stay away from me," Eddie spat. Chloe glared.
"You're not my dad anyway!"
Eddie knew he was. He just stormed out and ignored Chloe. Max was shocked. He knew Chloe hadn't been taking her tablets.
