Overnight(DIKY sequel)

Beans (Chapter 3)

Sweeney was awoken late in the morning to someone shaking his arm gently and whispering "Wake up sleepyhead."

It was Nellie.

Sweeney slowly opened his eyes,squinting against the bright light coming in through the window as his eyes adjusted.

He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and looked at Nellie with a small smile "Morning beautiful." He said and kissed her cheek,causing her to blush and grin happily as she decided that this was the best morning she'd ever had and it was only 10am.

"You've slept in for ages love and Daniel is still asleep. You two must have been exhausted last night because usually I'm the last to wake up." Nellie told him and sweeney blushed a little,knowing they'd both slept in so long due to being awake for about half an hour at two am, and sweeney didn't want her to know that he'd been nice and comforted Daniel last night as it was embarrassing seeing as he was supposed to be heartless but he was growing quickly out of that version of himself and becoming a kinder more caring version as much as he tried to resist it.

"Well I'm going to wake him up otherwise he'll sleep the day away." Nellie said,not picking up on sweeney's embarrassment.

Sweeney just nodded and once she left he lay back down again,not wanting to get up as this bed was really comfortable compared to his old springy bed.

He was just getting comfortable again when he felt the absence of something beside him.

It wasn't Nellie because she'd only just left so he couldn't be feeling that already.

Then he realised what it was.

His teddy bear wasn't there.

He tossed the sheets aside and quickly searched the bed but his search proved useless and he started to worry that he'd managed to lose it again.

He was in the middle of checking under the pillows when Nellie came in,furrowing her eyebrows in confusion when she saw sweeney in a right state,flinging the pillows off of the bed whilst murmuring to himself "Where is it?"

"Where's what love?" Nellie asked gently as she slowly approached him.

He turned to face her and Nellie swore she saw a pinkish tint on his cheeks "U..uh nothing.." he lied,looking down quickly which Nellie knew meant that he was hiding something from her.

"Sweeney.." she said in a warning tone and he sighed deeply,knowing that whenever she used that tone of voice he shouldn't keep denying it but this was just too embarrassing and personal for him to tell her.

"M..my um..underwear." He eventually lied, his cheeks going even pinker at that even though it was a lie-due to him being a rather modest person-and the only reason he used it was because it was clear he was embarrassed so he had to come up with a lie that wasn't as embarrassing as the truth but was still embarrassing (lol does that makes any sense?)

Nellie assumed that Sweeney wouldn't lie to her anymore now that they were closer so she took his word for it,giggling a little as his cute embarrassment on the topic "They're in a pile in the laundry room love." She replied in a slight teasing tone before leaving the room and actually retrieving them for him which made him more embarrassed. He lowered his head to hide his bright red cheeks as she handed a pair to him "There you go." She said "There's no need to feel embarrassed, they're just clothes." She added, noticing how quiet Sweeney had gone which only happened when he was either scared or embarrassed-both of which he liked to keep to a minimum as those emotions made him vulnerable and he hated feeling like that, almost like he was back to being defenseless Benjamin again.

Sweeney just nodded and continued to stare at the floor until she left the room for him to get dressed.

He let out a sigh of relief and put the underwear to the side before continuing to ransack the bed looking for his beloved toy and thankfully he found it a few minutes later back under the bed. He knelt down beside the bed and pulled it out, smiling fondly at it as he brushed the dust from it again "Why do you keep rolling under the bed?" He whispered to it with a chuckle, oblivious to Nellie watching from the doorway through a crack in the door.
