Chapter 4. Night battle

Sania wakes up and rubs her eyes as she sits up while getting prepared for the new day that awaited her. She quickly takes a bath and gets dressed while making sure her ears and tail are well hidden. She then walks over to Sylora's room and knocks on his door only to get no reply.

SANIA: Sylora? You there?

She knocks at his door but yet again no reply is given. Curious she opens the door which is surprisingly unlocked and as she enters she sees an empty bed and the room looks untouched like it was never used.

Worried and feeling alone she wanders around and goes to the bathroom and sees a little bit of red stuff in the drain. As she gets closer the smell of blood fills her nose and she backs away nervous an frightened and when she heads towards the door she sees it's shut. Now scared at this point she tries to open it but it won't open.

Suddenly a dark figure appears behind her and softly taps her shoulder. She quickly spins around an grabs her chest where her heart is as she tries to catch her breathe and gets an annoyed expression.

SANIA: don't creep up on me like that!!!

SYLORA: sorry was I too quiet you couldn't here me?

He smirks a little only to get a stern look from Sania and he bows his head.

SYLORA: s-sorry.... I-it won't happen again...

He holds his tail cutely and Sania's eyes open up more followed by a smile as she starts petting his head causing him to blush a little.

SYLORA: w-what are you d-doing? o//////o

SANIA: your so cute!!! >w<

She pets his head more and his wings start to flap slowly while he hugs his tail more enjoying himself and as he starts to snuggle in her arms she immediately pulls away blushing red.

SANIA: h-hey d-don't get the idea that I like you cause I don't...

Sylora lets his tail go and smiles kindly while putting his cape on covering his tail an wings. He then opens the door for her and beckons her to go through.

SYLORA: I understand..it won't happen again Sania. Sorry about that...

Sania then pulls her hood over her face more as her face gets redder and her tail slowly wags underneath her clothes.

SANIA: it's ok I'm not mad at you..it's just..

She blushes more and starts steaming while looking down. Sylora pats her back softly and holds her small hand making her even more shy.

SYLORA: It's ok if you don't want to talk about something you don't have to. I won't make you or force you to do anything you don't want to do I promise

He smiles kindly at Sania and she looks up at him and smiles sweetly back while hugging his arm. He then gets Sania seated at a table in the dining room where other people are having breakfast. he silently tries to leave without being seen but Sania quickly grabs his hand and looks at him with her cute neko eyes.

SANIA: please, I..like your company so don't go....please?

SYLORA: ok if that is what you want ^^

Sylora smiles kindly and sits down next to her as he starts to pan through the menu searching for something he wants to have for the morning. Sania smiles then blushes as she quickly looks away and tries to hide it while calming herself down so her face isn't red.

She then looks through the menu with him trying to see if there is anything of interest that she might want when she catches some shadowy person staring at her and starts to huddle close to Sylora and softly whimpers.

SYLORA: is something the matter sweety?

Sania gets flustered from the name he called her but focuses and softly whispers in his ear about the man staring at her and suddenly she sees Sylora's eyes glow red as he gazes over at the shadowy person who then grins and softly chuckles while looking away and eating his food.

Sylora then wraps his tail around Sania's waist protectively and she blushes but still clings to him nervously. Soon a waiter comes over and politely bows while speaking formally.

WAITER: may I take your orders?

SYLORA: yes please, we'll both be having scrambled eggs with grits and buttered toast.

WAITER: as you wish..

The waiter leaves then later returns with their food and they both enjoy the food while having a good time at the inn. Later on in the day they pack their things and get ready to leave Sania comes up to Sylora who smiles at her kindly and gets the pack of food bundled up.

SYLORA: yes what is it Sania?

SANIA: um...what was with the blood in your bathroom this morning?

Sylora makes a confused face to hide that he does know and smiles at her as he picks their things up ready to leave.

SYLORA: it's nothing really, shall we go now?

SANIA: sure ^w^

She smiles sweetly at him and her tail wags cutely behind her and its dark out when they head out of the inn. As the wander some fields the full moon starts to shine brightly in the sky. All seems ok till it suddenly gets quiet. Sylora becomes more alert as he senses something dangerous nearby and Sania stays close by his side and then a figure approaches them.

SHADOWY FIGURE: hello my dear girl, why are with this outsider?

SYLORA: back off you animal, I know what you are and your no different. At least I have a heart and kill those who deserve death unlike you who kill the innocent and feast on the young and helpless

SHADOWY FIGURE: so..is that a challenge?

SYLORA: it's your grave you dog!

Sania hides behind Sylora as he puts their things down on the ground and he turns into his creature form and hisses at the figure menacingly. The shadowy figure smirks and starts to laugh as the full moon finally is showing over him as the clouds part and his eyes glow yellow.

SHADOWY FIGURE: tonight's gonna be great for me!! Ah hahahahahaha!!
