Ayla
January 7th:
"Goodnight, and be careful driving! I said to Jai as I lingered by my door. I turned all my lights out and made my way down the hall to my room, taking off my clothes and climbing into bed.
No, don't do it. Stop thinking about him. You've done so good this past year, and have been over him. Don't let him get in your brain. Shit. Now I can't stop thinking about it. About him. Please, leave my mind. Just fall asleep. Fall asleep.
January 8th:
"So, how was last night?" Amanda asked me.
"It was great, how'd you know about last night?"
"Joel has asked Jai if he wanted to go to the bar, and he told him that he was going to your place."
"Oh, okay. Yeah! It was great. I made him some chicken chesapeake, that was a big hit, and we just chatted the rest of the evening. It was really great."
"That's awesome!"
"Yeah, and this week I will be pretty busy with work, actually the next few weeks," I said grabbing some fresh vegetables and putting them in my shopping cart. Amanda tagged along with me as I went to the grocery store.
"I can imagine. There's orientation at the hospital tomorrow, so I will be doing that all day. But I actually like it, meeting newbies and training them. It's fun," Amanda said.
"Yeah, I can totally see how you enjoy that. You love teaching," I said with a smile.
We finished up in the store and then went back to my house, to do some binging of Forensic Files.
That night, luckily my mind was pretty clear, and all I was thinking about was the next few weeks and work. I fell asleep happy while I looked forward to that, and looked forward to spending more time with Jai.
January 13th:
Jai and I were jogging on the NCR trail this morning, which was really nice after this long ass week. I was happy to show him this place, and talked about how pretty it as in the spring and summer. Luckily for us, even though it was cold, it wasn't muddy, the ground was a little frozen.
"You know, I love that you are wearing Klip gear by the way," Jai said to me while running.
"Well of course! As soon as I met Karen, she basically threw demos and coupons at me. I love it. It's really good in the cold," I gestured at my 0 degree leggings, and snug long sleeve under my sweatshirt.
Jai was also, of course wearing Klip, a zip-up hoodie and some looser running pants. He was a good runner, and was so far, the only person that I've been able to have a conversation with while doing so. Everyone else is either slower, or when they talk, they have to slow down, so needless to say, my runs are usually alone and quiet. But this was great. His company was intoxicating. That excitement of meeting someone new, where you just click. It was almost too good to be true.
We both stopped when we came to a small walk bridge crossing a small creek.
"I know all the trees are dead, but this is one of my favorite parts of the trail. When it's blooming, it's pretty spectacular."
"It looks beautiful now," Jai said, as I admired him taking in the scenery.
"Yeah, you're right. And it is exactly 2 miles to this point from where we parked. So unless I'm spending the whole day here, I usually turn around and head back."
"That's pretty convenient. Thanks again for asking me to join you. I haven't run in a few weeks, and this feels great" he said turning back to me.
"Really? I would have thought you just ran yesterday. You're a pro!"
