Surprise!

*Knock knock*

Gloria left the kitchen to answer the door, and was now greeted by Rory.

'Hey Mrs. Stewart. Is Lio home?'

'Yeah, he's downstairs' Gloria answered obviously surprised.

Rory slipped by her and ran for the stairs. Lio and Hunter were playing COD once more.

'Hey'

Hunter and Lio looked up, startled, but covered it with a grim expression.

'What do you want?' Hunter answered annoyed.

She shrugged. 'Just wanted to hang out. Can I play the winner?'

'Hear that Lio? She wants to play against me!'

'Oh yeah totally dude. But we all know that I'm the best at this game for real.'

'Oh you both aren't that good! Using your 2nd shooter just slows down your movement, Letting the enemy get even closer to you. Turn to your third shooter, hide behind something, and not only will you shoot faster, but you'll be covered from the enemies'

They stared at her in disbelief.

'Ughh forget it, you're too slow'

'Hey, you try playing it!' Hunter shouted and chucked the remote at her.

She caught it, jumped on the sofa, and did exactly what she had advised them to do. 

And it worked.

The boys practiced it and in no time hit higher levels.

Rory's phone rang, and she went into the hall to answer it.

'Is there anything she's not good at?' Hunter asked, obviously annoyed.

'I'm coming! I'LL BE THERE!!' They heard Rory scream.

The boys scrambled to their feet and saw Rory running up the stairs.

'Hey, what's wrong?'

'My- my'

'What is it Rory?'

'I have to go!' She pushed them to the side and ran down the street to her house, as the boys then followed.

An ambulance was screeching towards her beloved home,

and someone was on the stretcher.

'MY BABY! HELP HIM PLEASE!' Meredith screamed. Their house was slowly burning away.

and now it was obvious who was on the stretcher. Adrian. He was coughing up blood before Matthew came out in a stretcher as well. Nathaniel ran out crying, and ran towards Rory when he saw her. 

'Our house Rory! Its gone!' He wailed. She pulled him into a hug, and the 2 boys just stood in shock. Firefighters rushed into the house, and one assured the family that everything would be ok. 

'Rory, look-'

'What Lio? Are you going to try to make me feel better? Well it won't work! My home is gone! ' 

'Rory, I'm sorry it happened. It's a horrible thing and i can't make you feel better. And it doesnt help that school starts next week.'

'Thanks for the brutal honesty'

'Rory, I don't know you that well, but you don't deserve this' Hunter said

'Aurorangeline!'

'Mom, please.'

'Woah, that's your real name?!' Hunter giggled

'Don't start' She glared.

'Sorry.'

'Mom! What are we going to do?'

'I don't know, maybe we'll rent an apartment or-'

'Rory. Want to play soccer?' Hunter interrupted.

'Of course'

The three of them ran to  the field.

'Dibs on being on Rory's team!' Hunter screamed.

'Whatever. More people for me to take down' Lio scoffed.

Lio started with the ball and scored 5 goals. But his opponents scored 13. 

'Take that Lio!' Hunter screamed and gave Rory a high-five.

'Yeah, yeah. Whatever.' 

Lio noticed a bright yellow paper stapled to a tree in the park that said in big letters 'Soccer Tournament'

Rory and Hunter ran to it. 'Want to prove your skills? Come to the first ever annual Soccer tournament here in our hometown on September 5th' Rory recited.

'Rory! That could be awesome for you! You could win the tournament!'

'You really think so?'

'Of course.' Hunter stepped up. 'You're amazing.' 

Lio felt something bubbling in his stomach, but he dismissed it and continued talking. 

'The tournaments on the first day of school'

'And you'd win, Rory' Hunter stared deep in her eyes. Lio could feel the tension. The tension he didn't like. He kicked the soccer ball and hit Hunter in the head.

'Ow!' 

'How do you sign up?'

'You just show up the day of. Nothing special.'

'Hey Lio, can I talk to you later?'

'yeah man'

Rory's phone was ringing. 

'yeah mom? Oh. ok, I'm coming' Rory hung up her phone. 'Lio, wanna come with? Afterall, I'm going to your house'

Hunter put his hands in his pockets and stared at the ground.

'Hunter, you coming'

'No, I'm good. I'll talk to you later. Bye Rory.'

Rory and Lio walk to his house and talk.

'How long have you known Hunter?'

'For as long as I can remember'

'He seems really awesome, and his goals are superb '

Lio stopped dead in his tracks. 'What's going on?'

'What do you mean?'

'Just wondering why you're telling me this'

'Sorry, I just thought he has some real talent, like you'

His stomach churned. 

They opened the door and saw the adults in the living room, sipping tea.

'Mom, what did you want to tell me?'

She sighed and stood up.

'The Stewarts have been nice enough to let us stay here for a while'

A/N What do you think? This story is heading into a lot of drama, and stuff you were not expecting. With her brothers in the hospital, her having to stay at Lio's house,  someone admitting something pretty big, school, AND the tournament. What is going to happen??
