Simple Moments

Jenna:

I wake up by hearing Peach whimpering. I look to my right and see Julien laughing and petting her.
"Julien?! What are you doing?" I exclaim, tired and laughing.
"Every time I stop petting her she cries." Julien explains, "So I've been petting her to a rhythm." He laughs, and shows me.
He pets her twice and then stops for three counts.
"Julien, you're so weird." I laugh.
"You married me." He replies, continuing his game.
"That's not funny anymore! I literally did marry you." I respond.
"You did?" That's Julien's new joke. Now that we actually are married, and have been for more than two years, Julien can't make jokes about him being my husband. So now he pretends to forget we're married.
I just laugh in response. Julien keeps petting Peach on and off and I grab my phone from it's charger. I check my emails while Julien continues to troll the dogs. Marble hops onto our bed and goes straight to Julien, trying to get him to pet him.
"You trying to steal love from your sister, bud?" I ask him in a high-pitched voice.
   He cocks his head, as usual.
   These simple moments, just laying in bed with the dogs and Julien, made me really truly happy. I can't believe I found someone so perfect for me.
   "I love you, Julien." I say, kissing him cheek and then resting my head on his shoulder.
   "I love you, too, Ot." Julien replies, caught off guard. "What's that for?"
   "Nothing, I was just thinking about how grateful I am to have you." I tell him.
   "Ow, otter!" Julien responds in a baby voice. Still resting my head on his shoulder, I just close my eyes in response.
   So many people will never have this love. So many people are married to someone who they love, but they don't really love. They love them, but not the kind of love that's indescribable. Not the kind of love that makes you feel butterflies even after so many years, but still so comfortable. Not the kind of love that lasts forever. And I'm so lucky that I do love Julien that way. And he loves me the same way.
   He's so wonderful to be around. I can act so strange and stupid with him. But we can also have the most mature and respectful chats about serious things. We've done some amazing things together, seen some amazing places. And we've also had countless simple, -average moments that make me just as happy. He's so sweet, so genuine, so smart. He's really kind, and caring.
   Suddenly, I realize where all of this is coming from. It's not just the normal love and admiration I feel for Julien. It's that I want to start a family with him. I want to have a baby.
   "Julien, can I ask you something?"
