Big Decision

Julien:
"Julien, can I ask you something?" Jenna says, sitting up in bed.
"Sure. Anything." I reply, not looking away from Peach as I pet her.
"Julien." She repeats, in a tone that says 'This is serious. Can you please give me all you attention?'
I look at her.
"How would you feel about, um, having a baby?" She speaks casually, as if the thought just popped into her mind and my answer won't really affect her either way. But I know better. Having a baby would be a big decision, and Jenna's not the type to make big decisions without some consideration. She would want to think about it for a while before even mentioning it to me. And so, once she's come to the conclusion that now is a good time and she really wants to act on it, I know that my answer will affect her much more than she's letting on.
"How long have you been thinking about this?" I respond.
"Well," She takes her loose, baby pink and silver streaked hair, and pushes the front section to the other side of her head, creating a messy, deep side part.
"How long have I been seriously considering it?" She asks, pulling on her earlobe out of awkwardness. She stares at a mark on the wall. "Maybe about," she pauses, "about a month." She finally admits. She gulps. "Why do you ask?"
   "Just wondering." I shrug. "So, um, I think it would be.. a really good idea. I would really really like to have a baby." I say, looking over at her with a small smile on my face.
   "Really?!" Jenna responds, lit up like a house covered in Christmas lights.
   "Yeah, I mean, I've always wanted to be a dad, and I know you'd be an amazing mom,"
   "Aw, ot." She interrupts.
   "You would. And I think we're at a spot where we're ready. Mentally, financially, everything." I tell her.
   "I agree." She says, bubbling with joy. She's got a big smile on her face. "So we're gonna have a baby."
   "We're gonna have a baby." I confirm. I put my arm around Jenna and pull her close. We're gonna have a baby.
