"I'm moving." Twelve year old Cameron says looking at his shoes.

"What?!" Sam and I say at the same time.

"Yeah, I'm moving to California." He mumbles still not making eye contact.

"But I wanted you to take me to prom. You said you would, We're only twelve ! You promised." Sam complains.

"I know, but my parents already made the decision with out my consent. My dad got a better job, I'm sorry." He hiccups. "But I never break my promises you know that!"

"You can't go Cam." I whine.

-Present Day-

Sam and I took a seat in the back of our english class. Thinking that it would be the last english class I ever had to take in high school. The bell rings indicating the start of class.

"Hello," A teacher, probably in her 40s walks in, "I'm... Mrs...Caaaarl." She drags as she writes her name on the board. "And I'm your-"

She's interrupted by none other than Cameron crashing into the door of the classroom.

"Young man why are you late?" Mrs. Carl asks. The room is silent and everyone is starring.

"Uh sorry, I couldn't find the right english room." He slows his words as he looks around the room noticing all the eyes on him. His eyes land on me and he winks, "It won't happen again."

He walks between the desk, all the ways to the back as he sets all his things on the desks behind me. "Hey." He whispers down my back making me shiver.

"Back off." I growl scooting my seat up.

I hear him scoot his seat up. "Awe Charlie don't be like this. I know I left and all, but you don't have to hold a grudge."

I turn around, "You didn't just leave, you-"

"Charlie turn around!" Mrs. Carl scolds me.

I glare at Cam before turning around in my seat.

Cameron is so annoying. I didn't know that I had to explain that he abandoned us and then didn't bother to give a call.

The bell rings signaling the end of class. I dart out of the class trying to avoid Cameron at all cost.

"Hey, Char, wait up!" I hear Sam call. Making me slow down, "Wow you're fast." Sam bends over to catch her breath.

"Sorry I..." I trail off seeing Cameron walk out of the classroom towards us. "I-I have to go to the bathroom." I pull her with me.

"Slow down." She scrams as I push her into the restroom, "What is up with you? Is it Cameron?"

I sigh, "Yeah., Its all too much for me! I just can't believe after all these years..." I trail.

"Don't you want to be his friend again?" She presses.

"I don't know... no? I don't even know him anymore and it seems like he has enough friends anyways. Its like he turned from school to cool in seconds because he's..." I trail off.

"Fucking hot now?" Smile finishes

I nod, "People that never even thought to speak to him, talk to him like they've been friends since kindergarten." I look down. "Its hard enough to keep up with one popular friend, let only two."

"He's not that popular." She flips her hair showing her narcissistic side. "Its just most people, mostly girls, want a piece of him."

"Yeah well, its not worth it. "I say looking at myself in the mirror.

"You don't think he's hot?!" She asks shocked, "We have an advantage since we used to be friends with him, and I have an even bigger advantage cause I'm part of the cheer team!" She claps her hands together like she was finishing a set.

I roll my eyes, She was so full of herself, "What does that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing." She shakes her head, "Lets go." She heads for the door.

"Whatever."
