"How did it go?"
Shrugging I unpacked some more from a box, "It went fine ma."
"Did you tell him where you live? Did he see your new car?"
"No and No. Harrison took me in his truck."
I could hear the smile on her face, "Y'all are getting close."
"Don't start. How is Africa?"
"It's nice. Actually let me go my man is on his way back to the room. Take care baby. Love yall!"
Laughing I hung up and went downstairs where the boys were. Tyler and Torey have been in a funk since the other day when O'Neil didn't show up and I will forever hate him for this.
"Babies! Y'all want pizza?"
Tyler looked at Torey and didn't respond. The door opened and Harrison walked in, "Still not talking?"
"Nope."
He went and sat down next to them, "I know how y'all feel."
Torey looked at him, "How?"
"My dad always left me to go to church stuff. I started playing football and eating lots of food and cake. Y'all like that stuff?"
Tyler nodded, "Yes!"
Harrison smiled, "How about we get y'all on a football team and have mommy cook us some food?"
They both nodded. Tyler turned to me, "Mama can we play?"
"I don't know.."
"Mama please!!!"
This made me smile. They were finally happy and talking again.
"Fine but if you get hurt you better call Harrison."
They laughed. Harrison stood and rubbed his hands together, "Next order is business, what's for dinner!"
Tyler jumped up, "Shrimp."
"Potatoes with everything in them!" Torey followed.
"How about we go to the store and we cook dinner for mommy?"
The next thing I know they were all running out the door leaving me and a crying baby upstairs. After settling him in his bounce chair I answered the phone for my lawyer.
"He was served the papers ma'am. Now we can all meet and discuss."
Nodding I starred at a photo of all of us, "When?"
"When would you like?"
I wiped my tears as they fell, "As soon as possible. Let's make this short and simple."
"Yes ma'am. Have a good night."
Going up to the room with my baby on my hip I cried a little bit. There was a knock interrupting my session.
"Oh Bishop Tolliver and Miss Francis. May I help y'all?"
[
The pastor shook my hand, "Its Ted and is our son here. We haven't seen that boy in days.""Uhm he actually just left something about football. He has the boys if you want me to call."
His mom smiled, "Oh that's not necessary. We just making sure he isn't dead. You two are getting close."
"You sound like my mother."
His dad laughed, "Your mother is a wise woman."
"Yes she is. Has been our friend since we started that church."
"I know. Why are Harrison and I just now meeting? We have been at that church for years and I have been to yalls home."
His mom sighed, "Harrison moved away with my mother when he was 10. You wouldn't remeber him but he is back now and has been for some time."
