Losing my family made me realize a couple of things. The other night I sat and reflected on a lot of things and I didn't notice how much I had evolved as a person. Starting out I was a good nigga with a dream, Valencia helped me build my dream, but I couldn't let go of the hood shit which is why I kept the drug empire. I have a problem with letting go. I know that now. Which is why I decided to go through with the divorce after my wife and I can have a decent conversation.

My phone rang, "Yes?"

.......

"I'm on my way."

Getting up from my desk I headed out. Someone just told me that they seen the boys at the park and it isn't with Valencia. I haven't seen my children in months and after I broke their hearts I'm not really sure what to say to them.

Pulling up I saw her little sister Von sitting on a bench. Walking over I sat next to her. She looked at me and did a lite laugh, "You have a lot of nerve."

"I just want to see the boys."

"You need to call CiCi."

She stood but I grabbed her arm and looked her deep into her eyes, "Von please."

The hesitation was heavy but she agreed, "Five minutes."

Walking over to them on the basketball court my hands got sweat. Tyler and Torey.

"I bet I shoot better than both of y'all."

They both looked at me and froze. There was no emotion in their eyes. They just looked.

I squatted down in front of them, "Daddy is really sorry guys. I had to work."

Tyler shook his head, "You always have to work."

"Yeah always." Torey agreed.

I changed the subject quickly, "So mommy got a new house."

"Yeah."

"Where is it?"

They both shrugged their shoulders. I nodded, "Does mommy have a new man friend."

"Yes."

"Is he nice to you?"

They both nodded, "Yes."

"Ty and Tor let's go!" Von called across the small park.

Before they ran off they both hugged me. That was the love I needed. It was like a token of forgiveness. Pulling out my phone I texted Valencia. This has to stop.

Me: May we talk

Her: I'm at work

Me: Dinner

Her: K

Me: Red Cat at 8pm

Rushing back to the house I got dressed and headed to the cafe. I waited for twenty minutes before she text me saying she couldn't make it due to some work stuff. Which is likely why Von had the boys earlier.

I stood and went over to the bar when I ran into that nurse girl that patched my hand.

"Hey uhm Shai right?"

She looked me up and down before turning back to the bar, "Right."

"I uhm apologize for the other night. My emotions were high."

Sipping her drink she nodded, "She stood you up."

"Nah she has to work so we'll talk another day. On a date?"

"Yeah I am actually. Excuse me." She got up from her seat and walked over to a booth.

By the body language you could tell she was pretending to be with the dude but I dusted her off and left. My mother didn't raise a disrespectful man so I would apologize sincerely once more before being done.

Right as I exited the shower there was a knock on my door. Pulling on my boxers and sweats I walked down and Shai was on my porch.

"Yes?"

She gave me a half smile, "I brought wings."

"From where?"

"Sauce Hut."

Opening the door, "In that case come in."

This girl was gorgeous. She wasn't my wife but she was bad nonetheless. We walked into the living room where I set up for us to eat.

"Sooo?"

"I am sorry. I saw you earlier and got pissed all over again."

Nodding I leaned back on the couch, "Appreciate the apology. I owe you one as well. And thanks for fixing my hand. You a nurse?"

"Still in school. My mom is a doctor so its second nature."

"Oh."

She looked at me and then back down, "You don't seem like the heartless thug to me."

"Cause I'm not."

"So why is she leaving?"

That was a good question. Not a hard one but a good one.

"My lifestyle got to my head and I lost the most important thing I ever owned."

"She's gonna come back."

Laughing I shook my head, "I wish that were true but I pushed her far this time and I don't blame her for leaving."

"Can I kiss you?"

I smiled lightly, "Did you come here to bait me into a relationship? Came for some money? For some fame?"

She stood slowly and sighed, "None of that. I'm an honest girl O'Neil. Never have a been one of these get rich quick that buzz around y'all like flies. I'm gonna head out."

Before she could walk to far I grabbed her arm and wrapped my hands around her waist kissing her neck lightly. Her body shivered under me.

"Am I interrupting?"

We both jerked quickly at the sound of Valencia's voice. "What are you doing here?"

"Well I couldn't come to dinner like you asked so I left my office and came here. Sorry I'm Valencia. You are?"

"Uhm Shai. O'Neil I'm going to head out."

Nodding I waved her off as she walked out the door. Valencia just laughed and shook her head, "New boo?"

"Let's not do that Valencia."

"No I think we should. You can't sit in a divorce hearing and act right but you in here caressing her gently."

Leaning on the counter I ran my hands over my face, "I seen the boys. We need to work out some kind of schedule."

"We don't need to a damn thing. You sir need to find time for your seeds."

"Why are you making this hard?"

"I tell you what. Call your hoe back and I'll just see you with the lawyers!"

Snatching her purse from her shoulder and pulling her back, "Don't you have a new boo! Don't you have a man now."

She slapped me hard, "He isn't you. As much as it hurts me he isn't you O'Neil."

She fell into my chest and cried as I held her close. Lord this woman weakens me.

"Valencia I am so sorry."

Looking up at me with teary eyes she nodded, "O.."

"Yes?"

"Do me a favor?"

I nodded sweeping her hair back, "Anything and its yours.."

She nodded loosening her grip, "Make love to me."
