Two Months Later...
Coming inside from my morning run I heard someone laughing. Smiling I shook my head. I knew that voice very well.
"What's so funny?"
Shai looked up at me and smiled, "Facebook videos."
"And what are you doing in my house?"
"Well for one I live here Friday thru Sunday. And I came to get on your nerves."
Laughing I kissed her on the cheek and slapped her butt, "Lunch?"
"Yeah!"
Shai and I have grown very close. She'll likely be my next wife but she doesn't know that. It's been two months since the divorce and things are still new to me. And if you're wondering I still haven't seen my children. I could easily send some dudes to find her house but I respect her privacy.
Little did I know she was seeing football star, Harrison Tolliver. Seen a photo or two with him and my boys. Kind of had me heated to see someone else in my spot but it's not mine anymore.
"What do you want to eat?"
She laughed at something on her phone, "Uhm I don't know. Soul food."
"Okay."
Rolling through the hood I took her to the place called Pearls. They had the best soul food in the city. Of course people were snapping photos and all that extra.
"Welcome to Pearls. What can I get for y'all today?"
Shai knew what she wanted with her fat ass, "I want fried fish with black eyed peas, white rice, and Mac n cheese. Oh and a sweet tea."
The girl then turned to me with sex written all over her face. Glancing at Shai she was back in her phone, "I'll have the 5pc wing with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Also bring me a sweet tea."
Reaching over I took her phone and slid it in my pocket. She kicked me under the table, "Give it back please."
"No girl. It is Saturday meaning we have one more day before we go back to our busy lives."
She stuck out her tongue and laughed, "Fine. So what's been going on?"
"Work! I just signed a new singer. Chick is dope!"
"Is she cute?"
Leaning over the table I pecked her lips a few times, "Not cuter than my boo."
The food came and the waitress looked at me and winked, "Let me know if you need anything."
Shai looked at me then her and stood up, "I want this to go."
"Babe!"
"No O'Neul she is too disrespectful and to keep from smashing this glass into her skull I want my food to go. Please!"
I sighed and looked at the girl, "Can you make this to go?"
"Are you sure?"
Shai stood and bucked the girl, "Yes bitch he sure! Matter of fact fuck this fucking food. Let's go!"
Standing I walked outside to the car where Shai was waiting. Her legs were shaking and I could tell she was heated. Thank god she wasn't like Valencia or ole girl would have been picking up her teeth.
"Shai I'm going to go to the office. Bee take her home."
She shrugged and got inside the car which drove off. I chuckled to myself as I walked down the block to my office.
