Chapter 3 // Arrival

8 months later

I hold my new little baby in my arms. My little Chase Zachary Gates. He has my blonde hair and blue eyes, but he still kinda looks like his father.

Me and James finally got an apartment. We got jobs and have been working our asses off to get it. But we only did it because the woods aren't safe for Chase. I can't help the images of Luke that flashes in my head. His dark hair and dark eyes, his soft lips, his built body. I need to stop, but I can't.

I just hope that I can raise Chase and be a better mom than my mom was.

One year later

Today is Chase's first birthday. I send an invite for Margo to come, but she texted me she couldn't make it. Apparently she found her mate. The Beta of the Gates pack.

I've started having dreams about finding my mate, but that's only normal. I'm kinda scared. I've never wanted a mate, but now I do.  I need help with Chase and James has been acting weird.

"Mama!" Chase cries, he's awake
He can only say mama so far, but he's really close to other words and saying his own name.
"Hey Chase! Today's your birthday" I smile and I'm earned with his cute little laugh.

I help him open presents. He gets two cute little outfits and then I made his cake. Chocolate with blue frosting. Yum!

Today James and I think it will be good if we take Chase to explore the woods a little. It's spring so everything is blooming and all pretty.

I put on black leggings, a black tee shirt, and a black jacket. I put Chase in a black tee shirt and overalls.

We walk into the woods. As we go farther I stop and so does James. We smell wolf. Shit, we are on another wolf pack's territory. There is one smell that is making me go crazy. That's how I know it's my mate. I try looking around but I don't see him.

Then three men appear. I lock eyes with my mate. He feels it too. But he looks kinda familiar.
"So we meet again, Delilah" he says
"I guess we do, Luke" I smirk

It's really hard to contain. I can tell it is for him too. "So what are you guys doing on my territory?"
"Your territory?" I laugh
"Yes, I'm the Alpha"
"And I'm the daughter of an Alpha" I say
"I can tell" he smirks
"Can we just leave?" James says clearly annoyed
"Not so fast, you guys are coming with us" says Luke
"Why?" I say with a lot of attitude
"I think you know why" Luke winks

We follow him to the pack house. I put Chase in my new room since he's sleeping.
"You feel it too, right?" Luke asks
"Yea" I sigh
"What's the kid's name?"
"Chase" I can't tell him he's the father
"How old is Chase? And full name please"
"Today's his first birthday" I say walking away
"Full name" he orders
"Chase Zachary Gates" I whisper the last part
"What's his last name?"
"I'm not repeating myself" I say
"Whatever. But you know you can't stay away from me" he smirks
"We'll see about that" I smirk back

"Hello Delilah, I'm Shane, the Beta, the Alpha told me to have you join us for lunch" he says
"Do I have a choice?"
"No ma'am"
"Fine" I sigh

I walk down there and Luke is smiling at me. My heart starts racing. Why is this happening? Stupid mate bonds.
"Hello everybody, this is Delilah.... My mate" he smiles. Fuck. James just stared at me
"What do you mean by mate?" James asks angry
"I mean that she's my mate" Luke says
"Is it true!?" James yells
"Y-yes" I say
"What the hell!? I thought you never wanted a mate?" He continues yelling
"Stop yelling at her" Luke growls. Damn, he's already protective, but he probably can't control it.
"I never did want a mate, James. Some things you can't control" I glare
"Whatever. I hope you and your baby's daddy are happy" he spills
"Baby's daddy? What does he mean?" Questions Luke
"Exactly how it sounds" I say leaving to go to my new room.

Five minutes later I hear a knock. My wolf I going crazy so I know it's Luke. "Come in" I sigh
"So, that night at the club, you got pregnant?" He asks
"Yeah" I sniff
"Don't cry" he says, opening his arms for me. I walk into them. At first I don't hug him back. But it feels so right that I wrap my arms around his torso. He's really built. I look up and he kisses me. I kiss him back. I hate the whole mate bond thing. I was hoping I'd have a few years, but nope.

The next morning I don't know where I am. Then I remember that I found my mate. He's really hot, so that's a plus. But, this should be scary because we both have Alpha blood, so it should be stronger than any mate bond. That's what my grandmother told me if my mate was an Alpha.

But today I'm looking for Margo. Her mate is the Beta in this pack, which I forgot about last night, so it shouldn't be too hard. An I'm going to talk to James to see why he went off like that. He was very disrespectful and that's not like him. I'm worried about my best friend.
