"Rayquan, you have to realize that,I haven't told ANYONE this story because I'm not that comfortable with it I start to get emotional." I said as I started to choke up but I quickly brushed it away.
"Look, I'm here for you. I'm sorry I didn't talk to you for a while. It's ok. Now, you've been having dreams waking up crying I know I know Amber told me. This is because you need to vent to someone. "HAHAHAHA BABE STOP" I said as my boyfriend Rayan tickled me.
It was now January 8th my birthday. I was turning 14! He was already 14 because he's born 2 days before me. He's brown-skinned and has two braids. Since he's older than me, He uses that against me A LOT. Punk.
"Nope I'm not gonna stop babe. I have to make you laugh SOMEHOW . It's you birthday ! You're finally legal!!" He said as he laughed and continued to tickle me. Then he stopped. He gave me a passionate kiss that I would never forget. I felt butterflies sparks EVERYTHING.
"Babe, I love you. You know that right?" Rayan said in a serious one.
"Yes. Of course I know that." I laughed because I can't take him seriously. But I knew something was wrong.
"Okay just making sure. I'm finna go home and get your present, ill be back I promise" he said as he kissed me and left out the door.

I started tearing up. I can't I can't. I put my head in my hands and started bawling. I felt a hand on my shoulder it was Rayquan's of course. Then, I wiped my tears. And continued.

20 minutes..
An hour...
Umm? I just decided to go downstairs. Everyone yelled " SURPRISE!!" I guess they thought I was sleep. I gave them a weak smile and told Amber that Rayan hasn't came back yet. She told me it'll be ok.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YA HAPPY BITLRTHDAY TO YA HAPPY BIRRTHDAAAY" everyone sung as I blew out my candles and cut the cake. Then my cell phone rang. I answered it.
"Hello?" I said holding the phone between my right ear and right shoulder while eating my cake. It was and unknown number so.
"This is the Police. Are you Raven Smith?" The police officer said through the phone.
"Yes sir? What happened is everything ok?" I said in a confused tone.
"There's no easy way for me to say this but your boyfriend Rayan has passed away.. He got into a car accident with a gas truck and his car exploded. With him in it. We contacted his parents and they told us to tell you.. I'm sorry for your loss ma'am." The police officer said. I dropped my phone along with my cake then screamed everyone looked at me as I ran upstairs. Amber came in and I told her . She started crying as well cause Rayan was like a brother to her.
"It's going to be ok" she said in between cries trying to comfort me.
"He promised.... He promised that he'd be back. He promised" I said as I broke down..

Thats when I didn't talk to ANYONE , except Amber ,not even my parents in two years. They thought it wasn't healthy for me so when we were 16 me and amber moved from the Bay to L.A. And started fresh.

I cried even harder as I finished. I looked up to see Rayquan's face. He had mixed emotions , regret , confusion , anger , sadness , and love. That's what was all on his face . He engulfed me in a huge hug . I heard him sob silently while hugging me.
Then the power cut on..
Everyone downstairs was like "YAS LAWD"
