Chapter 13- You Look A Little Pale
Emma's Point Of View
“Why does Claire look like she’s fearing for her life?” Michael wonders curiously, walking into my room.
“Because she should be.” I reply simply, glaring after my best friend who just left to take a shower to get ready for tonight. Tonight, we’re going to the movie, which was planned, and I’m really excited to see Now You See Me, because it seems like a really good movie, but Claire just had to and ruin it by inviting Jace.
“What’d she do?” He asks, leaning against the door frame.
“She invited Jace Parker to go to the movies tonight.” I wail.
“Okay, what’s so bad about that?”
I stand up from my bed and began brushing through my hair since I’d already taken a shower and now it just has to dry before I style it. “She called him and insisted that it was a date. With me.” I grumbled.
Michael raises his eyebrows at me. “Oh?”
“Yeah, isn’t that awful?!” I shriek, pulling out an outfit for tonight- skinny jeans and a light pink tank top with a lace back.
“Well, do you like this Jace guy?” He asks me.
“What?!” I shriek with incredulity. “No, of course I don’t, that’s ridiculous, Mikey.”
Michael laughs and steps farther into the room. “It’s not ridiculous, I don’t think. I mean, this is the guy that carried you to the nurse last week, right?”
I nod. “That doesn’t mean anything.”
“It does,” He disagrees. “but you know, it would make my life a hell of a lot easier if you didn’t start dating.”
“Dating?” I echo with a sarcastic laugh. “Nobody is dating anybody here.”
“I’m going to send Caroline in here, I think you should talk to her about this.” Michael confirms with a nod.
“No, I don’t need to talk to anybody about anything. I do not like Jace like everybody thinks that I do, the thought is seriously ridiculous and there’s just nothing to talk about.” I insist. “Now, get out, I have to get dressed.”
“Jeez, you’re bossy when you’re embarrassed.” Michael teases me as he makes his way back to the door.
“I’m not embarrassed!” I snap, shutting the door just as Michael takes his last step out of the room. I pull out clean underwear and a strapless bra and then quickly get dressed before turning on my curler to curl my hair before we leave. We have about an hour before we have to leave to pick up Harper. Melody and Luke are going to meet us there, along with Jace, Jonathan, and Chace. At least, that’s what I was told last night as I was yelling my head off at Claire for doing what she did. That taught me to never leave my phone around Claire when I have to go to the bathroom.
“Oh, your hair looks so cute.” Claire grins, coming into the room already dressed with her hair wrapped in a towel. She’s wearing shorts and a cropped top, exposing only about an inch of her tummy, and the heels, of course. Whenever we’re not in school, she wears heels, as if she’s not tall enough without them.
“Thanks,” I sigh shakily, running my fingers through my now-curly hair. “Oh, and just to let you know, if this night goes bad, I’m going to murder you.”
Claire laughs and begins to plug in the blow dryer to dry her hair and then she plugs in the straightener, so she’s probably going to straighten her hair, which is cute because that means that she must really like Jonathan. She only straightens her hair for guys that she really likes. “It won’t go bad, I promise. It’s just the movies, not prom or anything.”
