Chapter 15- Tonight Is The Night
Emma's Point of View
“CLAIRE!” I screech, throwing around everything inside of my closet.
“What?” She laughs from behind me, but I don’t stop digging through my closet to glare at her.
“Help me.” I plead in a demanding voice. At least, I think it’s demanding, but I’m also shaking like a cold Chihuahua because of how nervous I am. I don’t know what caused me to say yes when Jace Parker asked me out to the New Year’s Eve party on the beach, but tonight is the night and I’m having a nervous breakdown. I mean, it was just so random and out of the blue and I didn’t have time to say no, although, I’m glad that I didn’t say no because I do want to go with him… kinda, but this is just so nerve racking.
“How do you want me to help you?” She wonders amusedly.
“I don’t know, but do something!” I shriek, causing her to laugh.
“I’ll go pick out a bikini for you.” She suggests as I continue throwing things in and out of my closet, desperately searching for something to wear to this beach party, which is a date. A date with Jace Parker, might I add. Like, a real one this time. No fake holding hands or fake moaning or fake anything. This time, everything’s going to be real. Really real. I hear Claire walk away to my dresser where I keep my bathing suits. Okay, it wasn’t a 100% date, but more like a 50% date, but the word ‘date’ is still here and I am still freaking out.
“Wait, you don’t think a bikini is too slutty, right?” I question anxiously. “Like, it’s not too desperate or anything?”
“No, Emma,” Claire laughs. “You’ll look hot in a bikini, and you’ll have something on over top of it anyway.”
“Okay,” I breathe, pulling out a dress and holding it up to me to show Claire. It’s blue and lacy at the top with a flowery bottom. “How about this one?”
She shakes her head. “Too formal.”
I throw it to the side and begin the search again. “Right, okay, so… this?” I pull out another dress that’s strapless and floral with pinks, blues, and purples.
Claire grins. “That’s perfect. Now, hurry because we can’t be late.”
Because this isn’t an actual date, it’s just something similar to a date, Jace isn’t picking me up; we’re meeting there. I am riding with my friends and he is riding with his, but since Claire and Jonathan are going to be together most of the time as well, it kinda worked out.
“Jeez, and I thought I would be the one freaking out when you finally got a date with Jace.” Claire laughs, throwing a pink bikini at me before leaving the room.
“It’s only like a date, it’s not a real date.” I remind her through the door, quickly slipping into the bikini and then calling her back into the room as I step into the dress.
“Yeah, whatever you say, Em.” Claire sings teasingly. She’s already dressed, wearing a red bikini with jean shorts and a see-through cover up shirt with black gladiator sandals.
Since we’ve already showered and did our hair and makeup, all I have to do is put on my shoes and then we’ll be all ready to leave, which makes me incredibly nervous. My hair is braided down my back in a messy fishtail and Claire’s is in a cute ponytail, and her makeup is a lot heavier than mine is, but it looks good on her, I think.
I slip a pair of gold sandals on my feet and grab my phone, pushing it into the cup of my bikini and then look at Claire. “Okay, I guess I’m ready. Let’s go get Harper.”
