The Mistake

Chapter Twelve

"I have to get away now. After bashing him in the head who knows what he'll do to me if he catches me." Mindy's mind race as she dashes down the stairs. "Door! Door! Door!" she struggles against the knob from her tremendously shaking hands. "Mindy! Calm yourself!"  her subconscious screams at her. Hearing the heavy footstep of the ogre coming down the stairs only heightens her panic.

"Princess, I advise you not to go out that door." Jonah said now at the bottom of the stairs glaring right at her with one hand holding his head. Mindy gasps as she sees the blood streaming down his face. For a second the guilt of what she has done hit her.

Regardless, she opens the door and run out.

He watches as his rebellious princess darts through the door. A smile spreads across his face. "Why do they never listen?" Running after her, he see her going towards the main road. Deciding he'll cut her off, he runs towards the woods thinking she's so going to it when he catches her.

The gravel road digs at her bare feet. She ignore the pain knowing there's worst thing that will happen if she is caught. "Please let a car pass." She prays as she reach the main road.

Mindy was nervous as it was almost too quiet behind her. She turns to only meet darkness. "No one's there. Yes I out ran the ogre!" Turning around to her dismay, she runs right into him. Umph!

"Let me go!" she screams flailing over his shoulder as he carries her back to the house up the stairs all the way to her room. He ignore her kicking and screaming as he ties her to her bed bounding her hands behind her back. Then he goes grab a piece of tape and cover her mouth with it shutting her up. Leaving her there he exits the room with her mumbles coming from behind the tape.

A couple minutes later Jonah walks back into the room with the blood washed off his face and a poorly job done with the bandage on his head. The look of a murderous lion as it stalk towards its prey in his eyes.

"I've done it this time," Mindy thought as he slowly moves towards her with the look of death.

She moves herself to the other end of the bed. He gets on and grab hold of her face. Even in this situation electric shocks are felt where his fingers are touching her skin. He removes the tape from her mouth causing a burn as it stuck onto her skin not wanting to part.

"You won't get away with this," she challenges him as soon as the tape is off.

"Why won't I?" he replies.

"Because I'm supposed to be in Korea right now and I didn't board my flight. My job and family will soon look for me."

"Ah that..." he smirked. "I've already cancel your flight on your behalf. And as for your new job... you're fired."

"Huh?" she was dumbfounded. "You can't just do that. And how did you even know about it? Who are you?"

"It's not difficult to cancel a flight. All I had to do was pay the cancellation fee. And I'm your boss so of course I have the authorization to fire you." he said.

"B...b...boss?" she stutter. "You mean you're Michael? The man who hired me?"

"Hahahaha!" his laugh ring in her ears. "No, I'm his boss too."

"What the hell is going on here? How powerful is this man? That is if he's not lying. The only people more powerful was the higher, higher ups – board of directors. But they don't hire managers within the company. Only the CEO did."  Mindy thought about this and do remember being told the CEO was a younger man. "What's his name again?"

"Jonah Lewis Chambers." She whispers slowly her eyes never breaking contact with him.

"Bingo." A wicked smile crossing his face at her realization.

Mindy just couldn't believe it. How could a multi-billionaire CEO get mixed in a dilemma with her family? Why would he do such a thing as kidnapping? "You don't believe me?" His voice broke her silent thoughts. "Well it doesn't matter if you don't. All you need to know now is you're mine and you will do all as I say or else."

"Well Mr. Jonah or whoever you are. I will not just sit here and let you do whatever you want to me or my family. I will fight you and I will get away." Mindy's voice was confident for the first time since her kidnapped. She looked him dead in the eyes not faltering.

"Good, it wouldn't be fun if you didn't." With that he leaves the room.

The moment the door closes behind him, all her confidence disperse. She lets out a sigh. She was scared for her life but she couldn't let him see that anymore.

For the rest of the day, Jonah returns only twice once to take her to the bathroom and to give her food. Not speaking to her at all. As night fall, Mindy lays in bed ignoring the pain that came from her wrists. As strong as she was trying to be, tears roll down her eyes nonstop.

Before she knows it, she was fast asleep with the ogre's name on replay in her head – Jonah Lewis Chambers.
