Chapter Forty

"Jonah can you hear me? Please be okay. I'm so sorry." Mindy cries holding Jonah's huge hands in her little ones.

She had done her best dragging him out of the water and into the house setting him on the couch. Immediately she strips him naked of the wet clothing and laid multiple blankets over him.

"I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! Please just wake up. I promise to never make you do anything stupid ever again!" she sobbed. "I was wrong I'm sorry."

His lifeless body didn't budge to her pleas and only lay limb under the blankets.

"God, god please. I need to call Jordan." She scuffles to her feet and rushes to find her phone.

Finding her phone, she immediately calls Jordan.

"Jordan please help Jonah. Please. I don't know what to do." She begged before he even had the chance to say hello.

"Calm down Mindy, what's wrong?" he asked.

"He's freezing. He was in the stream and now he's freezing!"

"I can't leave you two kids for two seconds." He said not sounding too worry.

"Jordan!"

"Yes ma'am! Tell me where you are and I'll be on my way." He said. Mindy immediately told him to come to Serene.

Returning down stairs, she goes to Jonah's side again taking his hands in hers again. Her clothing was also soaked clinging onto her skin, but she didn't care. Her only worry was on Jonah now.

"Help is on the way. Just hang in there."

After thirty minutes, there was still no response or any movement from Jonah. She starts to panic thinking the worst. Regret course through her body as she imagines life without him. Yes, she was upset at what he had done, but she had already fallen in love with him, given him her heart and soul, so there is no way that she can ever live without him now.

During her time away, there was not one day that past that she didn't think about him. She told herself that she hated him. She could have lied to herself all she wanted that she didn't need him in her life, but she can never lie to her heart. His lies and deceit hurts but staying away from him hurts even more.

"Jonah, I promise to be good. I'm sorry for being such a jerk making you do senseless things." She said gently squeezing his hand. "When I ran away, I tried to convince myself that I hated you but it only made me miss you more. I thought I was tough enough or more like angry enough to let you go but actually when you found me, I was actually happy inside. Happy to see you again and hear your voice and feel your touch."

"I'll do anything to make this family work again. I won't ask for a divorce anymore. I just need you to be okay please. I want to be with you, I need you, our baby needs you. Please be okay. I love you." She pours her feelings out to him.

"I should have told you all this sooner and then none of this would have happen." She releases a sad sigh burying her face in the blanket on top of him and cursing herself for being so stubborn.

"Mmmm. You should have told me sooner." Jonah says.

Mindy's head snaps right back up first in shock and then relief washes over her as she stares into his blue orbs.
