There's times where I want something more. Someone more like me. There's times when this dress rehearsal seems incomplete. But, you see the colors in me like no one else.~ No Doubt
When I woke up the next morning I carefully got out of bed so that I didn't wake up Ethan too. I tiptoed carefully out of the room and down the steps.
"Is Ethan up there?" Bernice greeted, questioning me.
"Is Julian up there?" I raised my eyebrow.
"Touché." She smiled.
Since Bernice and I were the only two awake, and Mom liked to make us breakfast, we decided to check out Hal's video game system. He had the Xbox 360 and about fifty games. We decided on playing Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, of course after we learned how it worked. I played as B.D Joe and Bernice played as Amy Rose. The odd thing is she beat me every time until the last round, when I beat her by an entire lap.
"Butt head!" She yelled, throwing her remote at my face.
I silently laughed so that I didn't wake up everyone else, but it didn't even matter because Bernice's scream already did that.
They all descended the stairway, Hal too. Meaning that we all had a sleepover last night.
"Good morning, Beautiful." I kissed Ethan's forehead as she walked by me. She was wearing my blanket around her body and head, her tired face making me smile. She looked like she couldn't open her eyes all the way, but she could still smile at my gestures.
She said something back but all it sounded like was a bunch of groans. Then, she wobbled to the kitchen table where everyone else was seated.
"Good morning guys," My mom welcomed, "I'll make some pancakes." She offered.
She's really good at making pancakes when it comes to just adding water. Hal sat at the table looking very amused by the lack of discipline on my mom's part. You're probably wondering that too. Well my mom and I trust each other very much and we're on the same page when it comes to this stuff. We both strongly believe that sex is inappropriate before marriage, along with other sexual activities because it should wait for that special person. I guess that's why I don't mind seeing that Hal and my mom had a sleepover.
"So since you can talk, why don't you tell me a joke." Julian directed toward me. Everyone just stared at him either like he was stupid or rude.
I gave him a weird look, and when he seemed to be serious, I cleared my throat and said, "S-s-so, there was this boy. This boy was dating a girl named Lorraine, but he-he had a crush on this girl named Clearly. So, when Lorraine died he sung at her funeral. What did he sing?"
"Oh, oh, ooh I know this one! 'I can see Clearly now Lorraine is gone'." Julian shouted.
The whole room cracked up. I too thought the joke was hilarious when I first heard it, plus Julian sounded like an excited child.
"I have one," Bernice interjected, "but it's more of a riddle. If every single person on a plane died, then how did two survive? Don't answer Henderson!" She said, knowing I knew the answer.
"A couple." Mom responded.
"How did you know that?" Bernice looked astounded.
"People used that one back when I was a kid. It's so weird how people still find it funny."
Mom flipped the last pancake onto a clear glass plate. She placed the butter and syrup onto the table and then joined us in sitting, "Would anyone like to say grace?" She offered.
After no one volunteered Hal took it upon himself to pray, "Dear Jesus, thank you for allowing me to be seated with these great people. Please nourish this food to our bodies and bless this day. In your name we pray, Amen."
