Today's Topic: Teen fiction stories, Spelling errors and (someone spare me) Mary Sue.
Topic 1: Teen Fiction Stories
*Coughing dramatically* Someone help me.... looking at.... horribly written....t-teen fiction. First things first. I like a good teen fiction book. Not all of them are bad. However these are the kind I hate: Yes, everyone loves the hot guy who tortures the main character. Suddenly for no reason at all, the hot guy starts to show "interest" in our main character.
Then there is the other guy. Sometimes the other guy is hot and sweet. Or he's nerdy and sweet. Either way it doesn't matter. Our main character always ends up with the bad boy. Why though? No. Fucking. Idea. Sweet guy vs. Mean bad boy.... oh who should I pick. Wait! I know... the bad boy who tortured me everyday for no reason at all!
Spare me.
No one ever ends up with the sweet guy. You do know why most people like cliches, right? It gives them the ending they like. Yeah, because the girl will be with him for the rest of his life and they'll have a thousand kids in 'Happy-Land'. Sorry to break it to you, but life doesn't work like that.
I'll rant about the endings another time. Onto the next topic.
Topic 2: Spelling errors
On Wattpad's 'Hot' list you see a book, click on the first chapter. You know what? YOU CAN'T READ IT! The paragraphs are in blocks, there are tons of spelling errors, and they don't make a new paragraph every time a new character is talking. Then you tell them the problem. They say;
"it's my Story. I no what's good and what'z not."
She literally said that. Can someone scream 'I'm a bitch'? Okay, if I can't even tell what that word says, that should tell you to click on the 'ABC✓' sign. Spell check. You know it's there for a reason. Not just to look pretty.
That's really all the advice I have on it. If you don't know correct grammar and spelling, go back to kindergarten.
Topic 3: Mary-Sue
Mary-Sue has no flaws. She's got a great family, is smart, pretty and has the body of a model. Well she does have one flaw. She thinks she's ugly. You're probably wondering why I haven't tapped the 'Cap Lock' key by now.
I'm use to talking about Mary-Sue. She is a common character, she's a pretty petty character to come up with. An over-used idea to people who can't come up with an original personality. These are the stories that will never get publish.
Hopefully.
I'm saying is all characters shouldn't be exactly the same as other stories. If you are writing because you think can get a job as author, nobody will go for an over-used character. No published book has that type of character. Well other than our dear Isabella Marie Swan (Cullen, later on in the story).
I have nothing against 'Twlight'.
You know, other than the fact that I don't like it.
But, again. That's for another time.
Lessons of the day:
Go for unique teen fictions
Look over your stories spelling at least once
No Mary-Sues
Thanks for reading 'rant # 2'. Later, Lu. ~(˘▾˘~) ~(˘▾˘)~ (~˘▾˘)~ (☉_☉)
