Today was the day... the first day of spring... but more importantly the day. The day they died. It had been four years since Robin had lost his parents but it still hurt so much. He had started a tradition especially for this day. A tradition that if the team were ever to discover he would surly never live it down.
Robin walked into his room and closed the door. It's not like the team was even at the cave so he didn't have to worry about being heard. He reached into his closet and pulled out his most prized possession... his dad's guitar. It was nothing fancy just a black guitar with red highlights. But Robin cherished it like it was made of gold.
While he was in the circus his dad had taught him to play, ever since then Robin had loved making music. Enough so that he had asked his mom to give him singing lessons. After all where do you think she got the nick name Robin? It was because of his song.
He reached up to his face and took off his sunglasses transforming from Robin to Dick Grayson. He sat down in his chair and picked up a guitar pick from his desk. He strummed a couple chords making sure to tune it. Ounce he was satisfied he started his tradition...in an almost angelic voice he started to sing in time with his guitar.
Gone too soon – Simple Plan
"Hey there now
Where'd you go
You left me here so unexpected
You changed my life
I hope you know
cause now I'm lost
So unprotected
He saw his new life as Robin.
In a blink of an eye
I never got to say goodbye
He choked up as he sang this part.
Like a shooting star
Flyin' across the room
So fast so far
You were gone too soon
You're part of me
And I'll never be
The same here without you
You were gone too soon
He imagined them as they flew through the air with fluid motions.
You were always there
and like shining light
on my darkest days
you were there to guide me
He saw his mother comforting him when he woke up from a nightmare.
Oh I miss you now
I wish you could see
just how much your memory
will always mean to me
He looked over sadly at the picture of them he had on his desk. It had been taken that night.
In a blink of an eye
I never got to say goodbye
Tears now start to flow freely from his dazzling blue eyes.
Like a shooting star
Flyin' across the room
So fast so far
You were gone too soon
You're part of me
And I'll never be
The same here without you
You were gone too soon
When the lights of the circus caught them as they flew it made them look like angles.
Shine on! Shine on!
Into a better place
Shine on! Shine on!
Will never be the same
Hopefully his parents were happy wherever they were.
Like a shooting star
Flyin' across the room
So fast so far
You were gone too soon
You're part of me
And I'll never be
The same here without you
You were gone too soon
Tears started to come even faster and he was starting to have trouble breathing. But he had to finish...
Shine on! Shine on!
You were gone too soon
Shine on! Shine on!
You were gone too soon"
He then added a line of his own
"Good bye Mami și Tati I will miss you... Always..."
He then shakily stood up and put his guitar back in the closet. With tears still flowing from his eyes he put his sunglasses back on and left the room. He headed straights for the Zeta tube. Each step felt like he was trudging through a mile of quicksand. When he finally reached the controls he softly spoke he destination. "G-Gotham Cemetery" he walked into the tube and a blue light enveloped him.
A minute later ounce they were sure he was gone the team entered the room their faces filled with awe. Robin had accidently mistaken today for being the team's day off instead of yesterday. "Since when could Robin sing? It- it was beautiful..." Artemis said in awe. They all nodded in agreement.
(A/N - The Feelz!
