Chapter 14: Date

Bella's POV
****

Alice was back by five, and she helped me get ready for my 'date'. Of course it wasn't real, but Edward didn't know that, so I had to keep the act up; secretly we were going as friends, to where ever he was taking me, just in case Edward happened to watch us or follow us. A part of me was actually excited for it, Demetri and I had never really hung out outside of the castle, so it would be nice to go out and hang. Even if we were doing it for all the wrong reasons.

Alice was going to take the girls for the night, which I was thankful for. I really had no idea what Edward was doing, but I didn't really care. As long as he didn't start anything I was fine with wherever he was.

A knock on the door suddenly made me jump, it was time for our 'date' already. I was just about to get up and get the door when someone beat me to it, I looked at the door and spotted Edward holding the door open. I couldn't see his face, but I could tell from the look on Demetri's face that it wasn't pleasant.

Demetri looked pissed, his mouth was shut, I could hear him grinding his teeth from over here; Edward folded his arms over his chest. "Demetri," he said, coldly. Demetri replied with a quick nod, he glanced over Edward's shoulder, and spotted me. His face changed almost immediately, almost as if he actually did love me! Weird?

I couldn't help but grin back, I waved at him. "I'm almost done getting ready, I just have to go get my purse upstairs," I told him, waiting for his response. He nodded his head, before he stepped around Edward, looking into the house.

Nothing was going to happen! I ran up the stairs to collect my stuff, I ran into Edward's old bedroom. This is where the girls spend most of their time, in his room. At first I was a little hurt, but I eventually got used to it. I started keeping all my things in here- as it was easier for all of us.

I walked over to the giant bed in the middle of the room. I remember putting my purse on it, but it wasn't there now. Where could it have gone? I ducked down, and looked under the bed. When I did, I gasped. I couldn't believe what was under it.

I thought I got rid of it a long time ago, but no. Underneath the bed was a box. The box was wrapped in green paper, and a black bow was tied at the top to top everything off- before Edward left I got him a gift. I couldn't give it to him though, because I couldn't find him, so I hid the box ever since.

A part of me was hoping he'd come back, so that I could give it to him but after the months that followed, I just let go. I stopped hoping that he'd come because I knew he wasn't going to- looks like I was wrong. He did come back- good thing.

I reached for the box, and pulled it out from under the bed. It still looked bran new, except for the dust on the top of it. I sucked in a deep breath, and blew it away, setting it on the bed. Since he was back, I could give it to him?

I heard a cough in the doorway, and whipped around to see who it was. Edward was leaning in the doorway- looking very casual I might add. He had my purse in his hand, and was staring at me with curious eyes. "I found this," he muttered, eyes on the box.

I stared at him. Did he actually find it, or did he take it so he could talk to me alone? He walked in the room, slowly towards me. Once he reached me, he grabbed my arm, and placed the purse in my hands. Did I mention the tingles that shot through me when he touched me? Then again they never did go away.

I bit my lip, trying not to smile. I missed him- I missed his touch. Stop it Bella! What were you doing? You had to pretend you love Demetri, remember? I sighed, nodding my head. "Thank you, Edward," I said, avoiding eye contact.
