Clichés
#1 if you’re going to do one, make it original.
There are actually lots you can do with a cliché. You only have the basic idea (for this let’s say you fall in love with your brothers best friend) and there’s lots of different outcomes you can get from it. You don’t have to follow the typical ‘secret relationship’ thing.
If you’re going to do one of these, I don’t see any reason for you to not make it your own. There are plenty of stories out there that have gone from ‘brother’s best friend, typical story’ to WOW, this is awesome – not cliché at all, you know?
Also, with these type of stories, try and stay away from stereotypes / and stereotypical names…that just gets annoying.
