This is my first book so tell me how this first chapter is because I'm doubtful if it's good or not. Please feel free to give me any feedback.
Thanks! Love you guys!!!💗💗💗"Everybody please fasten your seat belts, we will be landing in Kauai Hawaii shortly." The monotonous pilot announces as I lean back in my chair and close my eyes. I hate landings. I always have and I always will.
As the plane lands, I shove my Versace sunglasses on my head and place the rest of my stuff in my purse. Most people would be excited to go on a trip to Hawaii, but not me. For some reason, the idea of babysitting my little cousin in a small Hawaiian house all summer, by myself, with no pay, sounds awful. But I mean, that's what I get for flunking my math exam right?
Stepping out of the airport with my red suitcase in hand, I meet my aunt. "Hey Jenna! How was the flight?" My aunt, Heather, asks. She has always been stunning, while her soft, chestnut brown hair stops just above her shoulders, her glimmering green eyes are what catch most guys' attention.
I stuff my suit case and purse into the trunk of her car. "It was terrible, like always," I say, rolling my eyes.
Aunt Heather laughs, with that gorgeous laugh she has. Everything about her seems perfect. I'm so jealous. "You'll get used to it eventually."
"Haha, doubt it," I say scowling.
My aunt frowns. "Anyways, ready for this summer?"
"Readier than I'll ever be." I punched the button to turn the stereo on to avoid conversation and the lyrics from Somewhere Over the Rainbow fill the car. I place my elbow on the armrest below the window and stare out the window towards a long, sandy beach. A couple of surfers that look my age are cleaning off their boards next to a worn down building that looks like it could be a restaurant. "What's that?" I point to the haggard building that has a sign that says Emily's Shack hanging in front of what looks like the entrance.
"Emily's?" Aunt Heather says, "only the most popular hang out restaurant on the island," she winked.
I scrunch up my nose and look back out the window. As the beach disappears, houses appear. We pull into a driveway of a house that seems to fit the neighborhood perfectly. Of course it does. It is Aunt Heather's house after all.
"We're here!" Aunt Heather announces almost too happily. I grab my things out of the trunk and stomp inside.
My uncle sits on the couch with the baby, watching a football game. "There is my Texas Gal! Ready to babysit baby Jackson for the rest of the summer?"
"Ready, as always," I mutter. Uncle Jeff has always been perky, today was no exception. "Where's my room?"
"Here, let me show you!" Uncle Jeff gets up, leaving the baby in the bouncer, and takes my bags from me. I follow him as he walks down the hallway towards what I believe to be my room.
"Wow you guys have it already decorated!" I say with a grin, admiring the light purple walls with old Polaroid photos strung on a string against them.
"Yeah." Uncle Jeff says nervously, "I hope you don't mind." He sets my bags down near the corner of the room where three beanbags lay.
"No! Not at all! It's great!" I exclaim. They went through all of this trouble just for me, I should at least try to look appreciative and happy.
"Awesome! I'll let you get settled in now and get ready for dinner." Uncle Jeff backs out, leaving me in the decorated room by myself.
